Thanks Paul. The receiver is an AR6100.

Aerophila,

Yes, the 470uF will be a suitable choice

Well, looks like a busy day for me... so I better get into that workshop and... work.

(if I'm _really_ lucky a helicopter will arrive for me today)

NQRC server is currently "offline" due to a software update that didn't seem to bode so well with our virtual-machine system.

It's a Walkera #62 (belt drive tail). No electronics though It actually is a gift from someone that I've know for a while.

Oh less amusing news, the NQRC server is still waiting to be rebooted.

New NQRC site

The new site is up... would you believe it's taken me a whole couple of days of fiddling and farting, graphics are just horribly time-consuming even with good tools.

I'll likely make a few tweaks here and there as I get around to things or see glitches.

Good to see you back up and running Paul. I got a delivery of you doculam film a few days ago, the thickest version. It's impressive stuff! I have used it to cover a set of Depron wings in a pylon racer type plane. Even with the carbon spars in, the film has added tremendous strength. And it stuck to the foam well without melting anything, which is always a bonus. Do you need to prepare the surface before painting? And what sort of paints have you had success with?

Thanks, A.

Hi there Aerophilia,

Nothing like a sequence of unplanned outages to get the heart started.

I'm impressed that the 80um was able to be ironed on without melting the underlying foam, very impressed (normally I have to use the 30um for polystyrene).

As for painting it, it might be a good idea to look into the "Doculam discoveries" thread here on RCGroups - http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=274520 ).

It makes sense that the film would add some strength, since it'll resist and tensile forces applied and as we both know, that stuff is insanely tough.

Thanks Paul, that's a great resource. I knew there'd be something like that around here somewhere!

I had my iron set to about 110 degrees celcius. I was suprised as well how the foam held up to the heat.

Aerophilia,

I'll have to keep that snippet of information in my head for the next time someone asks. Certainly I would have anticipated the EPP to survive for the 30 and 38~42um but wasn't expecting much to survive the 80

I've got some wider rolls of the stuff coming in the next week or two, seems I've about sold out already of the 80, it's very popular.

Product stock update

Looking now to getting Corona 4SP1 and RP6D synth receivers for 36MHz. The 4ch ones I've used myself and do nicely for DLGs, the 6ch dual-conversion units are also quite nice with the dual-conversion helping a lot for inter-channel interference rejection.

Prices will be about ~$35, can't be absolutely sure yet as I've not received all the costs. It compares well against the GWS receivers considering you don't need a crystal with these. Certainly a lot cheaper than 2.4GHz units

New MM order

Just put through another Mountain Models order

* Slipso400 short kits
* Seether short kits
* More DL50's
* J3 Cub (clipped wing)

Have been trying hard to flesh out the "in stock" items at the store, it's getting there slowly.

If anyone is wanting one of the new MM Firestorm's let me know in advance for the next order.

Cost here in AU will be about $159 AUD. It's a BIG plane (47" span)

Just as a bit of a side note, I'm busy making up a new AP platform for some local fun.

It's a delta-wing, 1.2m span. Build thread is at - http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1107896

New arrivals - 36MHz receivers

The new Corona receivers arrived today. I've got the single-conversion 4 channel and the dual-conversion 6 channel synthesized units.

I've also got some servos as well that I'm testing out to see if they'll be good replacements for my existing units (9g digital and 12.6g metal-gear analogue).
