Hope the defect-prize thing does what you're wanting. It's the new type that reports the full voltage, rather than just a couple of blinks.

I like it - it's on test right now - very bright!

I've a 5.2V pack against it through a servo tester - giving 2 quick blinks, and 5 longer blinks on the green LED.

Would be good for night fly also!

Thanks!

Graham,

Yes, it should actually be read the other way around...eg, 5 long blinks (5V) + 2 short (0.2V)

The LEDs certainly do cast a very intense light within the narrow band due to the lens, great way of putting a small amount of power to use (they have less power demands than those used on the Normaliser).

2S280-12C lipos for DLGs arrived today.

Also stocked up on 2S850-12C's again as they're a nice pack for small parkies and low-demand situations.

Additionally I picked up a pair of 3S850's and 3S1500's... but I'm testing and keeping them for myself (I can feel another Seether being built... mwhaahahah).

Good news everybody,

I've found a local laser cutting service (as in, 10 minutes from here) which means I can now ramp back up with building modelling prototypes. This means a lot of the planes that have been put on the 'shelf' due to time issues actually might now have a strong chance of becoming a reality once more !

The first thing I'm working on is the modified QFII fuselage with a taper. Gives the QFII a sleeker look and less weight as a bonus, always nice on a DLG.

Woohoo. I always enjoy a PLD kit.

Is the cutting very good (the prior cutter did a brilliant job).

Graham,

The better news is that Mountain Models will continue to produce/kit my designs, where this local cutting service is useful is for making the prototypes. With Brian being so busy (curse of popularity and now with another child onboard) combined with the 2 week delivery timeframe it makes prototyping a little difficult, especially when you want to just try a +/-1mm tweak.

I'm sure Brian is actually going to be happy to see this because it means even more potential designs to pick from for him

Yes, hoping that everyone sees it as a "win" situation.

* I win because I don't have to wait more than 24 hours
* The local laser people win because I give them more jobs
* Brian/MountainModels wins because they get more kit options
* Customers win because they get fresh designs

Yeah, 2 weeks for delivery gets a bit absurd at times. I think this will help you get new designs out, which is always a good thing.

Hi Paul, I'm looking for some advise regarding your voltage protectors. I have a small graupner discus foam glider that will run 4 HXT500 servos. My problem is that the Speedy only has a 1 amp BEC. Could you recommend a voltage protector for this setup? I don't want to add an external BEC because of the extra weight. Battery is a 2S 800mah.

Cheers, A.

Aerophilia,

The 470uF unit should be fine on this setup, the HXT500's are quite light on the current draw. What receiver are you using?

The other option of course is something like a BAC-004 / BAC-LMA-004
