Best Digital Servo for 50 size heli

Hi guys, need to buy some digital's for a 50 size heli. Big fan of Hitec and Futaba servo's. Interested to know which servo's you've been using, and any recommendations? Thanks!

The new Hitec 7940TG would be at the top of the list. Futaba would be the fastest BLS, brushless servos. For JR the DS8717HV would be top, but the DS8717 is still pretty good.

Lower price Hitec would be the 6865.

Futaba does not recommend these servos for heli use. While they will work, I'd prefer something specified for heli use. Besides for that price you can get Futaba 9252s which are used for 60-90 sized CCPM

I put some 9452s in my R50 and like them very much. The leads are a little shorter than nomal. This is only an issue with the aileron servo but its still long enough. Better choise than the 9252 IMHO.

9452's are great servo's... Another great servo is the Align 610's and 620's..

I've been running the Align 610's and they are great.. Better tourqe and speed. I'm running mine on 8v in my Odin 90 and setting up my K3D 50 8v.

I'm going to all 610's or 620's on all my heli.'s.... I have some 9451's I'm going to be selling soon.

The answer depends on how much you are willing to spend. The best are the new Futaba brushless motor servos (BLS451) but they are expensive. The dynamic response is much better than the others so even though the specs seam about the same they do feel and fly much better. They also have much more accurate centering than Hitec servos.

yeah..everytime i hear someone ask for "the best" they always leave out what they are willing to spend. maybe you should qualify that before people start throwing out high end servos. i have futaba 9452s on mine on my 600, $80 each.

RC Man - unless you have specific test data, none of us can say with any certainty that a servo will center better or are more accurate, whatever that means. "feel" is personal, not all that meaningful in what is supposed to be an objective evaluation.

S9254 is NOT the same thing as a S9452.

S9254 is a tail servo, very fast, low torque. NOT for cyclic use.

I flew Hitec servos on my Trex for one season and it would never lock-in when hovering as well as my Raptor. After upgrading my Trex to BLS451 it is much easier to maintain an accurate hover. It really depends on how you fly but is you look at lots of helicopter forums there is general agreement that Hitec servos are not quire as precise as JR or Futaba.

I even got a Hitec programmer and adjusted the parameters but I could not tell much improvement. There is nothing basically wrong with Hitec and like I said it depends on how you fly.

Has anyone tried the Hitec HS-5485HB?
Digital servo at $25 with 89 oz/in torque and 0.17 sec/60 Deg. speed.

I bought these for my 600N cyclic but have not had a chance to really test it. Still breaking in the engine. Seems stable and probably will suffice my flying abilities for now. Still in the orientation and forward flight skill level.
