Need to build windshield wipers...need hints
I really should get around to building 3 windshield wipers for my boat that I haven't got around to doing yet. Any hints or insights on materials or process? They need to be 1/12 scale. And no, I don't plan on them moving across the glass...they will be for looks only.

I wouldn't mind buying the wipers if they look realistic, I just haven't found 1/12 scale model cars/trucks to be very popular in this area...

Big wipers in 1:16 scale for rc trucks, might be ok as smaller blades in 1:12?

Al else make out of brass strips/rod or styrene. Look at the basic shapes you want recreate and put them together.

I'm surprised that they are too big, as 1:16 scale is actually smaller than 1:12 scale. (3/4" to the foot vs. 1" to the foot.) But trucks probably have bigger wipers.

Here are the ones I made for STRUMPET. Basic parts from styrene and brass. I googled marine wipers and found what I was looking for, printed off the size from their specs and scanned to size. Hope this helps. Like Patmat it is fun most of the time working with details like this, you just need some patience. My model is 1 1/2" - 1'-0" scale. Jerryj98501

Thanks Jerry, that is really nice work you have done there. My boat is scratch built and pretty much everything on it has been built from whatever wild idea I come up with. No time to lazy now I guess....
