Amp rating for Sidewinder? Sidewinder Micro?
What are the rated and maximum amp ratings for the Sidewinder Micro and Sidewinder ESC's when operated at 12 vdc?
I have a robotics project I'm working on and am looking for a suitable brushless ESC. The motor we're driving is a small, 12 vdc, 3600 kv brushless inrunner style motor. Under load, the motor has been measured to draw about 10.8 amps and the power supplied is about 11.8 vdc. The motor drives a 2.25" boat prop. Everything is sealed in a water tight compartment so we cannot use a water cooled ESC. We first tried a Dynamite Mini Tazor ESC, but although it is rated to 25 amps it seems the over current protection cuts in at about 10.7 amps. I'm hoping we can use either the Sidewinder or Sidewinder Micro.
Any information you can provide would be much appreciated.

As per the note at the top of this page, please contact Castle Creations tech support directly if you have specific questions about our ESCS. To answer these questions:
Either the Sidewinder Micro or the Mamba Micro Pro will work in your application. Amp rating doesn't mean much in a car controller because in this application there is no steady current, it is always varying and the ESC has to be able to handle incredible burst currents that occur during acceleration. For more industrial information on our ESCS click the Castle Special Products in the maroon bar at the top of our home page then click on 'Reversing Controllers .'
