I have the plans somewhere for the Paul Janssens Mk24 Spit (maybe one day I'll get round to building it!)...

From memory, he gets round the issues you've been talking about by cutting two panels (with different tapers) per wing half, joining them, then sanding away the smaller amount of excess foam at the tip and panel joins. Slightly more work at the panel cutting stage, but it should give a more accurate airfoil overall. Certainly if I was going for a 1/4 scale version as you are in the long term, I'd investigate this option. What you've got still looks awesome though!

MattyB, I know there is a way to cut cores with the eliptical tips. 1/4 scale needs to be cut not shaped for sure. Small planes you can get away with a lot. thanks for the kind words.

Very nice build joemach1!

Where did you modify things from scale outlines to make it a better slope bird?

Thanks!

David

David, I dont think you need to modify this plane but I went with a shorter fuse that a 60" wing would have and higher aspect on the wings some. I made the wing fillets today and man what a difference that made. This Spity is looking SWEET if I dont say so myself. I kind of want to do a real scale 60" but this one is pretty close for me building it. I took some pics today and will load them tomm.

Wow!

Some day, I hope to be able to make it look easy, not even that easy, just a little easy.

It doesnt get much faster then this!! Amazing

I have read so many build threads now, I am almost getting comfortable to do a build myself. Gotta get my foam cutter going first!!

Well the project is almost coming to the end which means paint job. I have a couple of pics that looks awsome if I could just pull it off. I might post a few of the paint job as it happen or you could just see it at the PSS FEST 09.
