Flying Cross
No, not the distinguished one...
It's kind of ragged and imperfect, but that seems symbolically appropriate. (Hopefully it's "Rugged" too )-Emax 2812 -Turnigy 25A -3s batt -4 cheapo servos -Toothpick, rubberband, and foam motor mount - what! You're crazy! -Dimensions - I really wanted the look of the 1.618033987 golden ratio, so it is way, way, way too long. 30" ws, 48.5" long -EPP sheets of "various" thicknesses - This experiment seemed justified as I had a few "learning" sheets from some thin sheet foam slicing attempts. I am a fool and the best I could do was have one wing approximately 3 mm thicker than the other. That should present some lovely problems to solve. I knew it was wrong, just didn't want to use any more EPP than I had as scrap...Oh, and I had planned for the carbon to be on the top, but I rushed and glued the top on the wrong side! So now there is an interesting diamond design in tape on the bottom I wanted to be flat black....Oh well! In my hand under power it wasn't really trimming very well on the roll, so I'll be ready for the roll over and piledrive on the maiden. Probably will be painfully. Stiff upper lip, postive thinking! Question? I know there are strength and stiffness differences between a thicker and a thinner sheet, but are there differences in lift? I'm assuming so and may regret building in a hurry, but that's that's a great learning moment isn't it!
