WOW, I had a real Homer moment today. Yesterday was close to a perfect day for me weather wise. My home built winch which allows me to full pedal my Riser 100 all the way up was humming right along, thermal activity was not very strong at my release height, I figure about 400 feet. Got out my Riser 100 electric with a Bird of Time wing, it has a CAM set at 200 meters.
On the first flight BAM !!! first into major lift, after crusing around for 20 minutes I forced it down in order to winch up my Riser 100 and take advantage of the lift for the SSP copper level tasks I'm working on, figured I could get atleast 1 30 minute flight.
Couldnt find any lift at the lower level. bummer.
Cut to today, while reading thru the Task Requirments, number 5 to be exact, that's when I had my Homer moment. Turns out E-Sailplanes are OK to use as long as you follow the guidlines....DOH !!!!!
All this time I've been restructing myself to the winch and hi-start when I could have been counting all my E Flights.
Oh well, got some great pratice in through the year.
Hoping to make Copper by the end of this season, and now that I can use my E-Sailplane....game on !!!!!
