Gs3032

Whilst that's a pity to hear about the problems and pushed out date on these motors, it's good to hear your QC doing a great job - we look forward to getting these motors once they are ready, knowing they will be a thoroughly tested and well made product - keep up the good work!!

I'm in the middle of sticking together a Sniper II - it might be the quickest build kit I've had!!

Sorry for the delay, but we need them to be as good as they can be made, before you buy them.

Gs22 are arriving on Monday to Air Craft (rather than today as hoped, due to a routine random inspection at customs here.

It's always encouraging to read your QC is effective David, I'm sure they'll be worth the wait! I'd certainly prefer the wait to get a product that has been thoroughly tested.

Hyperion motor for Great Planes Super Sportster EP?

For Dave or anyone:

I just bought a GP Super Sportster EP ARF and want to buy a Hyperion motor with ESC.

Need a suggestion for the motor. I think the motor I want is ZS3014 12 turn. 1132 kV. Weighs 126gr.

GP's suggested motor is Rimfire .25 42-40-100 BL Outrunner 1000 kV, weighs 125 gr.

Webolcalc says I want about 1100 kv.

60 A ESC and a 11x7 prop, APC.

Here are specs for the plane. It's sort of a beginner's aerobatic, medium 3D. I won't fly it flat out fast as possible very much. Tail dragger. This is my first plane after the Apprentice, and the plane I hope will teach me enough so I can fly the 7 lb H&M Corsair. Will learn to fly and land fairly hot; hotter and faster than the Apprentice.

Wingspan 48"
Wing area 383 sq in.
weight 3.75 lb (60 oz)
Wing loading 19.5 oz/sq. ft.

Hyperion motors in that range of kV are ZS2213 8 turn, ZS3009 20 turn, ZS3014 12 turn, and ZS3020 8 turn.

Since the suggested Rimfire weighs 125 gr., and the ZS3014 12 turn weighs 126, I'm thinking that would be the right motor.

Suggestion?

I'd go with the Zs3020-08 myself. I could be wrong but, I think it's better suited for a 60oz plane, especially if you plan on it getting "mild 3D" and will get you closer to what your working towards with the Corsair.

I'm sure the 3014-12 would be OK also, this is just my opinion. The Zs3014 would be good for easy Sunday sport flights and will definitely blow a Rimfire .25 away. I tend to over power my airplanes a tad. So take my advice with a few grains if salt.

If it was me I'd go with this:

Hyperion Zs3020-08
Hyperion HP-ATLAS-090SB ($25 more than the HP-ATLAS-060SB but, covers a lot more ground so to speak)

Again, just my opinion. I'm sure David or someone else with more knowledge will chime in but, that's what I would do.

Good catch! Sheesh. Dang calculator!

Just checked the manual. 2.75 to 3 lbs. Say 3lbs, and that's 48 oz.

I'll check webocalc again tomorrow.

Thanks!

The Zs3014-12 might be a little too hot for a 11x7, also consider the Scorpion SII-3014-1040 and the Zs3014-14, and if you want something with a lot more buzzzzzz the Zs3020-8

I Agree with Luna. My pick (if the model comes in at or below the 3lb max the manual claims) would be the Zs3014-14 starting with the 11x7 APC "E".

I'd use the G3 CX 3300-3S, up to CX 4000-3S (depending on preference for flight time, either one will be good wing-load wise, imo.) Myself, I'd prob go with the 4000mAh to insure plenty of flight time, without risking overdischarge.

The ATLAS 60A (or other good brand in same range of 50A~60A) will give plenty of overhead. Standard LBEC (step down) BEC type should be fine (I assume the model is 3~4 servos).

David

[later edit] Even if the model comes in at 52oz I think the Zs3014-14 will be excellent and the lightest choice, and that is what I would use. However, if you have any doubts, or want to have a little larger motor for possible future use in heavier models, the Zs3020-10 would be another good choice, assuming it will fit. The model can easily handle the wingloading of a few extra oz. imo. Check the datasheet for full dimensions and wait till you have the model in hand to measure before ordering motor in this case:

Any suggestions for DEUCES WILD by eflite. They suggest using either their Power 25 or 32. I have seen one fly with the 32 set up & retracts. It was a rocket.

My brother is using a couple of 3025-8's in his on 3S each. Seems to go pretty well on stock sized props.

Hi Dave
I was going to use a Scorpion and then saw your new Hyperion GS motors for gliders with the front being tapered this looks a lot better for my Paragon as i would like to keep the nose looking like the kit, can i use one of the HP-Ad 850XXL collet prop adaptors with a folder prop and with a GS 3014-16 motor. If i can i can set the motor back a bit for a longer nose block and have a nice curved taper from the spinner to the square sided fuse & canopy. My friend says with the 3014-16 i will get 5-6 45 degree climb outs to 500 ft using a 12 + 6.5 folder and a 3 lipo 2100 battery at about 65 oz AUW Paragon 120" span floater. Can you also tell me what number ESC to go with the 3014-16.This is all new to me as i built a electric 2 M back in 86' with direct drive and you just turn it on full tilt with ni-cads so i'am looking forward to the new neat stuff you have now.I have been away for 20 yrs and this E Paragon will get me back flying again, thanks for your help Dave.
Sincerely Don

This sound OK?

Hi.

My H&M Corsair, first ARF, with the new ZS4025-14, is finally mounted, with Atlas ESC, and a new Hyperion 6S 5000 mAh battery on order.

Here's the bench test. Does this sound OK?

Of course, don't have all the components properly mounted yet. Will be May or June before I maiden it.

Sounds fine to me. Do you have the brake disabled?

David, Not to my knowledge. What's that mean? Guess I better take a more careful look at the instructions!
