pretty cool! ive been thinking about making a yak or an edge.

have any pictures, or video? or at least the plan not tiled - that way we can get a look at it before printing it up

some data about it? electronics used? weight? that sort of stuff

Hey Seth...

I just built one from plans for the same plane posted here:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=886755
scroll down and you'll see pics of my finished plane too rainy to maiden today... maybe tomorrow.

I assume these are your plans.. yes? If so I second the call for pics or vids... got any to share?

Ohh and I'm starting the the CG 1/3 the wing cord. 4" back from the leading edge.. is this right?

Thanks in advance,
D-Man

Right on NightFlyer... glad to find the ower of the plans and give credit where credit is due. And in that spirit I've delete my other post to bring it over here where it belongs..

I've been eyeing the DW Foamies 48" and 55" profile planes and this PDF looked close to size and configuration.

My Edge is 6mm Depron with Blenderm Hinges, Hs55's all around (4ea), Eflight 450 920kv (have a 480 1100kv just in case she needs more power), Thuderbird 18 esc, 10X5.5 apc, Zippy 2200 3s 20 (pulls 15 amps at 185 watts static).

AUW 19.2 Ounces & Wingspan ended up at 44" with 39" in length. She's a bit flexie at the tail. CF braces on the fuselage will fix that.

Hope to maiden her as soon as the rains here in the Northwest let up.

Really nice Dfloth! I have been wanting to to post pictures of mine but my camera is broken. I have been trying to get my mom and dad to get me a new one! I just flew mine today and it flew great. I am going to make a bigger version of it and it is going to be blown up to 150%.

NightFlyer..

Maidened mine yesterday... 10mph winds but just had to see how she flew. Everything seems to be spot on.. no real bad habbits and lots of fun. Probably put that 480 motor in this weekend just for kicks.

Ohh and Yes I would be very interested in the 150% version. Probably go with 9mm Depron though as the 6mm is just thick enough for the 45" version.

Peace,
D-Man

Update...

Installed the larger motor and esc on Friday. Flew great, lots of power, hovers are fairly easy and full throttle is like a rocket. Noticed a lot of flex in the tail and throughout the fuselage. Pictures show my attempt at fixing this with Carbon Fiber. Hope to get another test flight in today.

Stats
Motor: Power UP 480 (Heads up RC)
ESC: 32A Power Up (Heads up RC)
Prop: APC 11x5.5
Battery: Zippy 3s 2200 mAH 25-30

"Watts up" says: 320 Watts at 27Amps at static. Data on Heads up site puts the thrust at 55 Ounces.

After larger motor, esc, carbon, a little extra paint and Homer Pilot AUW is up from 19.2 to 22.4 Ounces.

Peace,
D-Man

Night..

The Edge 45 flew well before but after the larger motor and extra CF... it's really fun now. Fast when I point her in the right direction and slows to a perfect crawl for low and slow. My lack of 3D skills and a bit tippy to the starboard stops her from really being an awesome 3D machine. I hope to get the wife out to take vids sometime this week.

I was thinking at 150% a removable wing is going to be mandatory for transport. Nylon bolts or some other device will need to be employed. Have you thought about that?

Also do you have pics or vids of your Edges? Have you used CF in like I did for stiffening?

Let me know when you have the 150% plans good to go…

Peace,
D-Man
