Maxi Swift FPV Project

I am putting together a MS Composit Maxi Swift to use as an FPV platform. I've installed a 480 out runner, 40 amp ESC, 2 HS82mg servos, BEC, Pan/Tilt pod from MrPibb and a Futaba 72mhz receiver. I'm waiting for a 2.4gig 1 watt lawmate transmitter, KX171 camera and a Black Stork OSD. Here are a few pictures.

I am still waiting on my video equipment from New Generation Hobbies so I was experimenting with 2 props, 10x7e and 10x5e. I can't believe the power difference between the 2, the 10x5 has more thrust and lower amperage use then the 10x7. I can't wait to see how this thing flies.

I am almost finished with my Maxi Swift FPV, here are a few pictures. It weighs about 2.7 pounds and is powered by a 3s 2200 mah and 3s 610 mah. I don't have an OSD installed now, I am looking for one that will support a flying wing with the return to home function.

I just got back from test flying my Maxi Swift FPV and she flys AWESOME. I got in 5 flights with 2 full FPV flights with landings wearing goggles. I am using a 2200mah pack on the power side and should be able to do 45 plus minutes in the air with good throttle management. This thing flys so slow I could easily catch it in my hands on landing if I wanted to.

Looks good, just one thing though, how do you find the lawmate tx wires coming out of the unit? I had one but the video wire came off the board because the soldering was pants, i am thinking of hot glueing the gap between the wires and the metal frame.

Hi Tim,
Not yet, I still have to get a recorder for my Ground Station. I don't know which one to get yet. The P/T Pod you made works great and fits this plane perfect.

I got 6 flights in on sunday and had a blast. This plane flys better in the wind with the 3s 3300 mah pack that it does with the 3s 2200 mah pack.

I am thinking of changing my FPV setup over from my Easystar to a wing. I am just not happy with the stability and slow speed flying of the Easystar. How slow can you fly at that weight? I have the Eagle Tree OSD Pro and would be using that and the Co-Pilot. if the OSD Pro wont work with elevons, I have a elevon mixer that I could use instead of elevon mixing in the radio, which should make it work. You may want to consider that route too.

Where is the best price for the Maxi Swift?

The Maxi is perfect for what I want out of FPV flying, it is stabile yet can do loops and roll with ease. Alex from RV is sending me a beta patch that will support elevons so I will be testing that out in a few days. I had an Easy Star and it was a dog with the added weight and had short flight times. I'll post some new pictures of my Maxi today.

Your swift must be a featherweight! Nice!

Techspy: Try googling. Can't help you with a US hobby store that ships them as I'm in Europe. Every big store in europe sells them, though.

You can order them directly from MS Composit in the Czech Republic. They say they can ship within a week of order.
