The Bad Voodoo ODR

Here's my latest build I've been working on.

The Bad Voodoo by Eaton Air RC. http://www.eatonairrc.com/home/theBadVoodoo.php

The quality of the parts are top notch. Eric did a great job of finishing the wing and tail feathers which was unexpected. His covering jobs are a thing of beauty.

The fuse I got was a blemish one but still looked great. With a bit of sanding, some high build primer and a couple spots of Bondo everything looked nice and smooth. It took about 1 hr to get the fuse ready and painted.

The wings are balsa sheeted foam core. Eric told me where to find the wire channels and I cut slots for HS5085 servos. I potted the servo's with 5min epoxy and micro balloons. The servos are slightly thicker than the wing but easily fixed with servo covers.

Next was the tail feathers. I set up incidence to zero zero and epoxied on the tail after a few quick measurements to make sure the tail was true.

For the wing to fuse joint, I chose to use nylon bolts and thread inserts. First I installed a plywood former inside the fuse surrounding the wing saddle area. This gives the fuse extra strength and allows use of brass threaded inserts instead of blind nuts.

Things left to do:

1. Battery, RX, elevator Servo in the fuse
2. Aileron linkages for the wing.
3. Trick graphics from my Vinyl cutter.
4. Balance and test fly.

I also plan to add fuse ballast plates just incase we have good conditions at MWSC this year.

Probably won't make it to KS till the event unless there's an F3F race before the event.

I am moving slow on building the Voodoo. Will try to finish the wing this week.
I hope!

I have been enjoying flying Erik's Thunder Storm.

Look what showed up

Thanks Andrew for letting me hijack your thread.

I call it the Bad Voodoo light. Eric special made one that will build out on the very light side of the weight requirement. Balsa sheeted white foam core wings with hardwood leading edge already installed. Unpainted fuselage. Tail group is plenty thick to do some advanced shaping with it to reduce drag. Vertical is reinforced with really thin plywood installed in a groove at the bottom of the tail.

Plan on putting in a 4 cell AAA pack, electron 6 reciever and 3 DS09AMD servos. Will paint the fuse ever so lightly. Thinking of trying to install the wing servo connections such that the flaperons are top driven from a bottom installed servo. Worst case will be bottom driven with larger covers.

Meanwhile, enjoy the pics.
