I know it's just in my head but I grew up on two strokes, both RC planes and motocross bikes, so I can only be fully satisfied with a 2-stroke. I enjoy electric too but it's just not the same for me. 4-strokes I probably like even less than electric... unless it's a V8.

I still remember the smells of going to the race track as a kid. Natural oil and leather. Oh my...

Just for grins I've come up with a formula to justify my madness. Feel free to tweak the numbers but you'll find a 2C is still closer than a 4C.

WWII Radial engine: 18 cylinder radial, 1500 RPM, 1 exhaust note per cylinder ever other rotation
18 * 1500 * 1/2 = 13,500 exhaust notes per minute

2-Stroke, single cylinder: 15,000 RPM. Same math
15,000 exhaust notes per minute

4-Stroke, single cylinder: 10,000 RPM, Same math
5,000 exhaust notes per minute

So students, we have learned a 2-stroke is better for your typical warbird. Class is over.

Where can I find a 2-stroke to put in my Jeep?

PS, I'm currently building a Great Planes P-51D 40 and it's getting an OS 55AX.... 2-STROKE!!! I know it will make me more hated at the field. I can live with that.

On a serious note, the P-51D kit is pretty awesome.

I can't use an engine that sounds like a long fart. At least the scale guys at the field will hate me less than if I made it electric. hehe. Just kidding.

I'm already planning next winter's build. Top Flight Sea Fury with an OS 75AX. Sorry.

Honestly I have the highest respect for 4-strokes and electrics. They're just not for me.

After owning an EP version with the nice cowl I had forgotten how ugly the nitro version is. That’s another reason that I don’t fly nitro any more.

If they (Tower Hobbies) would show the EP version in their advertisements I think that they would sell more of them.
