Tonight I got the fan together and balanced. Thanks to Eddie for the trick. I am alittle leary about the 4s as I couldnt get the fan as tight on the shaft as I would have liked to. Seem that the collett and retrainer dont mesh to well. I think the retrainer is to large. Also I installed the fan and to my dismay the fans front nose cone was rubbing badly. I will fix that with the dremel tomorrow and sand the ducting on the inside.

I also completed the elevator install with servo. I will be completing the linkage tomorrow. Coming along well, and taking my time as she is a beautiful jet.

Flap servos buzzing

Hey guys,

My servos (hs-65cg) for flaps are buzzing in the normal flight position, and when the flaps are down it has no issues? Any ideas on how to fix it. I have bent the rod to line up more straigh to the servo arm, but no luck. Seems that the flaps have some pressure (or maybe to much CA) holding them just out of level. I just havent tinkered with them that much, and if anyone has a quick fix...I would appreciate it.

Ordered one of these, and can't wait to get it! Gonna go with the MAP retracts, 1/8 wire, and a hot setup! 4.5lbs of thrust on 4s! Awesome plane and great thread! So happy to have discovered RCgroups! Sorry to be so stoked, but I'm not the youngest guy in this hobby! I'm catching on quickly though. Been doing EDF for years now, and I'm glad to have finally found guys as crazy as I am for SPEED!

Mr. Fallon,

Are your retracts drilled out for 1/8th or thicker wire? I got the MAPs tapped out for 1/8 for extra support. Thank you.

Hey All,

Got the sapac retracts in (work nice!!) and all servos working, only thing left on wing is the wingtips. Eddie or Mike, what did you use to glue them on?

Thanks

sand the mating area
5 minute epoxy one first then do the other making sure its straight
I used CA on the lens ,,slowly sand them till they fit perfect with 180 grit

Got the flap servos figured out. Just needed to put some weight on them so they would sit flush with the wing. Got the retract valves and servo done. That was fun. It was my first time with air retracts, alot easier setup then mechanical. I am going to install the retracts tomorrow. I did order a set of scale struts, but they wont be in for 3 weeks. So it will be the wire struts till then.

Tested the power on the watt meter.

I was getting 950 watts, but they battery I had was not fully charged. Pretty good thrust from the exit, with the tube. Cant wait to taxi her around the street this week....hopefully.

Also our semi scale L39 struts can be utilized with them. The cost is $200 for the complete set, plus shipping. That includes all the support hardware. Those of you that have purchased our retracts in the past know that we produce an excellent retract with no slop and lock properly. Oh !.... they don't leak either.

Carl,

I cant seem to find the pictures that I saw of the scale struts. I will keep looking though.

Scale struts for an L-39 !

Those scale struts are mine! I had Larry make me a set a while back. They were quite awesome. They will not work with maps though. Because of the air cylinder and trunion style. So Larry made them with his retracts attached. Im very happy and they are quite cushy on landings. The only down side is they cost me over $500.00. That was the retracts and struts combined.
