Geez, don't you work or anything Bull-lol? Have you checked Sig's site out for "just the plans"? I just saw them awhile ago...go under plans, and keep hitting next sellection{or whatever it is} in the lower right...it'll be second from last page.{I was curious too}
They have three views, but I didn't check in there for them...

Actually I don't... I received some extended vacation time from Tellabs if you catch my drift. Ha. The Rascal is a sentimental thing, given it's lineage and the fact that it just looks damn good I thought it would make a nice blucore project. If I go through the trouble of building a balsa one it will probably be wet powered.

RASCAL FLIGHT REPORT @ SPACE CENTER

Fans:

This little Blue Foam RASCAL is fantastic!

I flew it this morning before the wings came and she took off using the 6 cell, NiCd, 375mAH, Sanyo Battery pack so, she was about 1.2oz heavier and no problem!

Flew her for 5 minutes and POOF lost the motor in-flight! She came in for a very nice and smooth landing! The battery is in the perfect spot since I really didn't do any inputs to the transmitter at all and RASCAL touched down with ease!

It took my buddy and I several minutes to find the IPS motor with that ORANGE Prop since the grass at that part of the field was taller.

Recovered and reinstalled the motor/gearbox and flew her with my buddies Li-POLY and she went up again and gained altitude faster since she is lighter. However, the heavier battery pack made her a little more stable when slight wind is present.

This RASCAL is 30 Inches of wind span so, the next one will have about 34 inches total to off set the eliptical wing corners and therefore have more wing area for better float performance.

RASCAL's Weight!

Oh, I almost forgot.....I weigh in the RASCAL last night and it tip the digital scale at 5.2oz without any battery pack. The Ni-CD 6 cell weighs 2.3oz. so, the total weight was 7.5oz. for the first flight.

The Li-POLY weighs 1.5oz. so, the second flight the RASCAL's AUW was 6.7oz. and that's almost a whole oz. less which is significant considering the IPS thrust.

BTW Bullseye, I freelanced the plane. The lines are so graceful that a good flier is pretty much guaranteed!!.

Next one will probably have some more curvature on the airfoil to make it a better slow flier, but everything else seems to be right on the dime.

Also, the rudder area could be reduced some to make it handle more like a trainer. Right now it snaps and spins FAST!!.

Very tough to loop though...that's where the added airfoil would help too.

RASCAL GOT ASTRO FLIGHT 010 !!

Pictures of RASCAL being configured with new ASTRO FLIGHT 010 (14T) and Master Air Screw 5.5 X 4 Prop.

AUW = 8 1/8oz. using the heavy 6 Cell, Ni-Cd, 7.2Volt, 275mAH, Battery pack.

In this picture you have the GWS IPS motor/gearbox that burned up today then, in the middle you have the new ASTRO FLIGHT 010 and then far right you have the heavy but, powerful Mabuchi 380 (EPD-400C). Just took the EPD-400C motor mount and used it to secure the ASTRO FLIGHT 010.

BLUE CORE FOAMIE, the RASCAL !

My RASCAL with the ASTRO FLIGHT 010 (14T) and flew today with great success! I have to secure the wings with some struts so, I can perform loops without worrying about the wing assembly ripping off!

RASCAL FLIGHT REPORT

The Light Weight RASCAL (AUW = 8 1/8oz.) flew much faster and climbed with improved feet/min. I just applied slight back pressure and it climbed with great authority and I was up about 80 - 100 feet in less than 20 seconds.

Loops were effortnessly, however, I did notice that the wings were flexing at one point so, I just looped her three times and discontinued.

Lots of speed with that MASTER AIR SCREW and ASTRO FLIGHT 010 Direct Drive on this little light model !
---------------------------------------------------------------
Okay,

At 5:35PM at the HOME DEPOT Field, I took the RASCAL off from the road and she was airborn in less than 3 feet of pavement. It was kind of gusty and windy but, this little thing went left and over the field as I commanded.

Then, would you know it, DANG!!!!!!!!!!! As I turned her into the wind (Wind coming from the SOUTH - SOUTH EAST) her right wing snaped and she came down in a spirol from 80 feet up.

No damage to the ASTRO FLIGHT (It's a tank) and the model really didn't sustain that much damage....wing just snaped off at the root where it attaches to the FUSE and the frontal Fuse was smooched in like one of the modern cars ! It's out for repairs but, this time the wing will be completely reinforced and with struts!

Hope to fly her again real SOON!

Carlos.
Later in the afternoon at HOMEDEPOT
