I just finished my accord 47 with aveox 27/26/1.5,its set up with a 13x8 prop, 4 to 1 gear box,10 cells 1700 nimh, my question ,if i drop down to a 12 inch prop due to ground clearence problems,what pitch should i go to? Also the tail wheel that came with it looks kinda wimpy,i put it on but i dont know,should i change it? I checked it on my postal scale came in under 42 oz. so i guess a little more weight wont hurt, One more thing,the plans say the cg is between 3.5 and 4 inches ,also says 75-85 mm back from leading edge of the wing,ive got it at 3.5,will that be ok? ED if you happen to read this......ITS HERE AND DONE!!! Any and all ideas welcome,...thanks guys!! Dennis

I had the 27/26/1.5 in my E3D last season and I ran either a 12x8 or a 14x7 on 10 cells.

One more thing,if i put a 2 inch spinner on it, (it looks pretty good with it on)will it block the cooling holes too much?should i cut more cooling holes in it?...Dennis

Do you have the 4.4:1 planetary gearbox on your Aveox 27/26/1.5Y (used to be a 1010/1.5Y) ? If so, I would limit the prop to a 13x6.5 APCe as it will pull almost 50 amps. It looks better with a spinner, but I couldn't find one that worked and looked right with my MEC prop adapter....so I left it off. I also cut an opening in the nose to let in more air.

Yes,Ed it is the planatery gear box,when i last talked to Sal he said the 13x8 would pull like 37 amps? I got a 12x8 at our local hobby shop,thats all they had,you were right about Sal,he set me up with a great deal on the aveox!!!!The spinner i got is a dubro 2 inch black plastic one,looks good on the plane and fits the prop adp.Sal sent me without any mods.I think ill cut holes like you did,did you do anything in the rear of the fuse to let the hot air out?Have you seen the newer accords?On mine they used that yellow color but some of the parts are purple,rudder,elevator,wing tips and the top of the fuse in the front,really makes it look better!So do you think the 12x8 will work ok?what do you think will be the best size as ill have to order some?..thanks again!!!...Dennis

On 10 cells even the 12 x 8 will be tons of power. Let me know how it works out for you!

Currently I am flying a Javelin 2 on 8-cells with a 13 x 8 prop and the Aveox 2726/1.5. I can hover on almost 1/2 throttle.

Well, there you have it. Sounds like Sal thought you were going to use 8 cells with the 13x8 prop.
Put a Whattmeter on it. If the 13x8 doesn't take it to more than 45 amps or so ....and you use good throttle management....you won't have any problems (I would still not use more than a 13x6.5 if it were mine) . I opened up the holes in the fuselage sides in front of the wing to let the air out (cut the covering away).

Well i finally flew the accord,i think i had it a bit noise heavy,but flew real gentle,except on the ground was kinda squirely,power was good i didnt do too much,i like to ease into a new plane,i was supprised how slow it would land!i think i flew about 7 or 8 minutes,not sure how long the batt would last,well made a few changes,put different tail wheel on it,gonna move the cg a bit ,a little more elevator throw,and set up the flaperons,ill try again tomorrow,i flew it with a 13x6.5,tomorrow gonna try the 12x8..............Dennis

I lost the tailwheel on one of my early flights. I just bent the wire into a skid . I don't do much on the ground, just punch it and it's off in a few feet It does slow down nicely for landing.

Flew the accord again today,i used a 13x8 ,13.65 and a 12x8 prop,13x8 worked best,but not having a big watt meter(i have the small one) not sure how many amps its drawing,i checked the heat all 3 flights,i dont think the motor got over 120,the vertical is sure not what i expected,no way will it hover,i got the TMM 40e-3ph with it,is there a timing adjustment with this?i dont think there is,i used a 1700 mah nimh batt with it,should that batt put out enough current for my setup?What batts do you use?im thinking a 24-2600 nimh or nicad?where do you get your batts?i used the flaperons they work real good!!put the new tail wheel on,that helped the ground handling,i also opened the front and the sides so i could get more air flow,what do you think is better,i checked some battery specs. a sanyo cp2400 nicad is 60 grams ,a sanyo 2600 nimh is 62 grms nicad 3.75$ a cell nimh is 4.50$,im thinking nicad cause i can charge it faster,there both the same size,i found this on battle packs .com....Dennis

Something is fishy ! Based on what you said, I suspect your batteries. The combo you have should be giving you 75 oz thrust and pulling around 50 amps with a 13x8 APCe It should pull the Accord 47 straight up until it is out of sight
Get yourself a Whattmeter and check the amps and watts.

Ed,as of now i only have the one pack for it,its a 1700 nimh 10 cell i got in the combo from Sal,i ran 4 cycles on my triton,slowest charge rate,1 amp discharge,i agree is should have tons of power could it be the speed control?Also when you hook up the speed control ,its only wrong if it runs backwards,right?Dennis

I don't have any experience with the TMM 40e-3ph . On any sensorless control I have used, just hook it up in any order ....if it runs backwards, switch any two wires. I run 10 full size sub C cells in mine. If you like Nicads, try 10 CP1700's ....RC2400's for longer run time at the expense of a little more weight. I suspect the batteries you have won't/can't provide the amps needed.

I flew my Accord 47 for the first time today. I'm using a Axi 2820/10 swinging a APC 11x7 prop and a 10 cell 3000 nimh battery pack. It flew with great authority and was really smooth. The handling was very predictable and it didn't have any bad tendencies. It should make a great pattern/sport flyer. My only recommendation is to reinforce the landing gear. I glued some extra ply around the gear and used some landing gear straps on the outside like Ed did.

My buddy Gary Krasicky is flying a 2820/10 on 10 cells in a Skyvolt and he LOVES it. Simple, quiet and excellent power. I believe he is running a 11x5.5 APCe. I also believe he said it was pulling right at 40 amps. Did you put a Whattmeter on it ? Amps ?
If you are over 40 amps static .... I'd try a 11x5.5 APC e prop.
