Midwest Whatever Fest- April 25-26, 2009 presented by AstroWings

Save the Date!

Announcing the 2nd Annual Midwest Weasel Fest under a new name!
Midwest Whatever Fest
April 25-26, 2009
presented by AstroWings

Weasels, Wings, PSS, ODRs, Crunchies, Foamies, Scale-ys, F3?s, Whatever slopers ya got! Do plan on bringing something to fly that goes well with Weasel on the menu.

Since Weasels are still not available, we're making a slight change. Love to keep it Weasel-centric, but hey... come run what ya brung! We hope to have a host of fun fly events, looking forward to the usual Weasel antics, a combat event, perhaps even some races. Stay tuned to this thread for further details.

What: Weasel Fest Fun Fly- welcoming all Weasel friendly foamies. Other events will probably include other slopers, sched. to be announced.
Who: Friendly slopers with a sense of humor.
When: April 25-26
Where: In/around Milwaukee, we'll plan on last years venue, which we've secured, but have an option or two depending on wind direction.
How: Build sloper, come to Milwaukee, throw plane into wind. Smile.
Why: Seriously? If this is a question you have two options. 1) Stay home and obsess over your MySpace page, or 2) come and find out. I recommend the second option.

I'm sure we can get a group from Madison to show! Several already flew this year at the "Big M" in February. That's right, February. Wisconsin.

Too bad I didn't hear about last year's event. Better late than never.

How great!

Spread the word gents.
Will be good to see the familiar shenanigans of last years Festers, and new faces too!

Let's rock it this year.
Bring it!

cheers,

I talked the manager at the hill the other day and they are happy to have us again!

Note that while the event will be hosted and centered around the slope at Omega Hills, we may have the opportunity to fly other local slopes depending on weather conditions.

Also you will need AMA membership to fly at Omega Hills.

Hope to see you there!

Thanks for the info on the site and the AMA requirement, Greg.

Do you know if the site will accept AMA's Park Pilot membership category for this event? It would make sense, since the hazards (and liabilities) of a sloper would be considerably less than a powered plane.

Thanks for checking.

With all those nice new additions... did you add a Weasel?

(at least throw together a P-Dawg from LEG... we don't want our foam to scratch your nice moldies. lol)

No Weasel But if I get time... A Slope Monkey may just show up at my door! Just finishing up my F3F Predator, I ordered a Vector III from Skip, and got a SUSA Bat I am starting this week. ( Similar to the Mini Elipse ) Its a lite air moldie. This thread has got my blood flowing....Got to kick up my building mode a notch, put er in High Rate! Davo

Dave, good question! Normally a full membership is required because the slope is an alternate field for the AstroWings flying club. I'll see if I can get an answer on the PP membership for this special event.

All those planes and not a Weasel-ly type in the group?

Oh Dave. tsk, tsk, tsk...

Slope Monkey would fit in just perfectly. Build it up man! And just think of all the greatly diminished "pucker factor"!

For other attendees- Let's start a list of some Weasel friendly birds:

Wings, such as LEG P-Dawg.- http://www.leadingedgegliders.com/ep...PrairieDog.php (says unavailable on the site BUT- see this- http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1000126)

We had some Guppys up last year- http://www.leadingedgegliders.com/ep..._epp_Guppy.php

Slope Monkey- I've seen this little chimps fly, they would play well with Weasels. http://wyowindworks.com/slopemonkey.html

Wasp- a very Weaselish thing- http://www.offtheedge.com.au/page.asp?id=17

and perhaps something like the Segway from FSD? Not familiar with this one myself- but looks fun- http://www.futureslopedesigns.com/Segway.html

of course, the numero uno choice is a Weasel- the new version isn't out yet. This thread seems to be active with rumors and any new info...http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=976507

additions to the "options" list? Please post.
thanks,

'beat

Note to thread posters- I'd really like to keep this thread on topic of WeaselFest... err, Whatever Fest. Info you may need, questions, updates on events, planes we'll be flying, attendees coming, anything related to the event - it's all good.

I did a little thread clean up- if I deleted your off topic post, please don't take it personally! Help us all out with this thread so that it helps make 09 Fest even better than last years, and a great time for all!

thanks much-
'beat.
