Nice. I take it that's with a carbon fuse too?

I can't believe how great that plane flies. Which motor are you using?

No, it's a rare aluminum with basswood reinforcement, 12 inches in. The motor is a custom made motor from Gobrushless.com. Dan makes it just for the SSX. I will ask him if he has a link to the motor. Of all the motors I have tried on the SSX, that one is my favorite.

Here is the link to the motor:

http://www.gobrushless.com/shop/inde...&ref=MD2510-LE

I am using a TP 1320 3S battery with a castle TB 18 ESC and a APC 10-7 SF prop. I use a prop adapter not a prop saver. I am getting incredible flight times with this setup. I have not timed it yet, it just seems longer than any other motor I have tried.

Dan makes great motors! I love mine on the tribute. I might have to get one for the SSX. I am ready to ditch the gearbox and go direct drive.

Great demo of the landing gear! I will link to it in the next show for certain. I haven't had a chance to use the new x-fuse gear yet. I have so many projects going on right now it is insane. But the first set will go on a standard SS, and the blue ones will go on the old classic SSX, and the black will upgrade my red SSX ARF.

Yes Sir!! And will have a load of SSX gear to bring.

Mini Bipe, Micro SSX and my 2 standard SSXs. Have been flying the Micros on 3s and they are like little pylon racers, but will still fly gentle if you chose.

If there were to be a giant SSX there to be had, I would very likely purchase one

Unfortunately with the economy so slow I am sacrificing my airplane design time to do circuit design these days and that is what is paying the bills. At best this year I may be able to swing a few new planes for SEFF but production kits for the new designs will not be available at SEFF.

Thanks. I thought maybe you were using one of the motors on your SSX accessories page.

The little hacker motor that james sold me with the mssx. Hacker A10-12S. I run the little motor he has for the Bipe on 3S also. It is insane! Those little things with just a touch of speed seem like they are blazing fast. They get out of sight in no time, so you have to constantly fly it and keep it close. Lots of fun. Still enjoy slower easy 2S flights too.

you have any tricks? On my maiden the smaller-gauge-than-coat-hanger-wire gear didnt' really hold up. Mounted as a tail dragger. And with just some simple goofing around nothing strong i've already cracked the control horn link (nothing that some thinker CA can't "solve" - but still)

it seems aweful weak and mighty dependant on a tee tiny hex nut for keeping the tail wheel true - which is a stark contract to the beefy CF main gear...

What are the tricks / what am I doing wrong woud you guess?
