Just received an unsolicited DX6i recall notice via FedEx today (although I've already determined that mine is one of the unaffected ones), anyone else getting these?

Yeah, I got my Fex Ex notification yesterday. My radio has the date code of a suspected problem unit although, doing the monitor test, it seems to move smoothly on all planes. I plan to call today and get my call tag sent to me so I can return it. Of course, good flying weather is approaching here in NJ and me with no radio!!!!

UPS tracking shows my Dx6i was received back in IL for repair on 2/22. At one point I was told the repair would take "5 to 10 work days." We're pretty well beyond that. I guess it's time to call and nag them.

What galls me is that this is my "fancy" radio, and essentially brand new. It was ordered from Hobby Lobby on Jan 13 of 2009, and has had maybe 1 hour (total) use, on a Vapor, in a gym. (And about 5 minutes on my EasyStar's maiden flight, in which it crashed and ended up in a tree.)

At the very least, I expect them to reset the warranty start date to the date at which the radio returns from service.

Woo-hoo. My Dx6i is back, with a 6100 receiver in the box as a consolation prize. It was packaged in a carton for McDonalds Hash Browns, I kid you not. (Wicked professional, folks. ) Paperwork says both gimbals were replaced. Sticks check out OK on Monitor display, but there are no "clicks" on the throttle axis.

Out of curiosity do the AR6100 receivers have a V1.6 sticker on them?

Wish I knew about this potential problem before the Fatal Maiden the other day, flying perfect one minute, dead the next. Looking at the monitor screen though it appears to be ok! Maybe another cause, first 2.4 communication failure at our club.

I had a similar experience with my DX6i and the AR6200 receiver that came with it.

According to the online notices and videos Spektrum and Horizon posted, my TX checked out OK. But to be sure, I called Horizon and described the nature of my problem. When I told him what happened he said it would be best to send in BOTH the radio and the receiver.

So, despite the fact that I have no radio right now, the customer service folks at Horizon were very informative and professional. That seems rare in any biz these days.

I had something similar happen to myDX6i, I lost a few planes. The last one I flew at least 60 times with the exsisting set up and this day flew one battery and landed and swapped to a new battery after roughly 4 minutes the lost all commands no response and eventually went full power into the ground. This was the third plane I lost and so contacting their customer support they asked me to send it in. I did so with a letter stating I was not real confident in this radio any more and wouldn't mind if I was upgraded to a dx7. I was contacted and they stated they could not replicate the issue but were sending a brand new dx7 package with servos and ar7000 to me. Talk about customer service they are bar none outstanding. Thanks again Horizon.
