Been on "Sabino" too Charlie, and was surprised at how small she actually is.
Somehow, I'd visualized a larger boat---.

Opening alarmed me, thought maybe he had passed. I used to rub elbows with him in the Maritime Modelers, a really nice and talented guy.

All the decorative lights on Bobs' Sabino work too.

Pat, I can see where the thread title could be taken the wrong way, and rattle a few people.
If I hadn't been on the phone with him recently, I would have gotten a little bent out of shape as well---.

Bogene
Another little work boat... Bob saw her on a trailer near the Columbia River, stopped to take pics and measurements. With that in hand, it's easy to make a model!
How many details here I don't have a clue how to make myself... |

Elite Dredge
Not sure if there was an original for this self propelled salvage barge. Looks like original grunge though!

Monterey Clippers
Bob may be best known for his Monterey Clippers- the little boats that plied the waters around Monterey and San Fransisco for salmon, crab, and anything else catchable. Bob grew up in the City and remembers how the lines for a new Clipper would be chalked out on the alleys next to boatbuilders down near Fisherman's Wharf.
Here is Isabelle again, built from his Pandora Models kit. |

Bob has done small display models too. The African Queen has a sound unit built into the base, and is usually under glass.

Hicks
Powering most Clippers was a one or two cylinder Hicks gasoline motor, built right there in San Francisco. Bob's Clipper models included one of these animated gems along with digital sound- really advanced for a modeler back in the early 90's!
