Given the sweep and severity of today's global economic crisis, it would seem there's plenty of blame to go around. But Bill Clinton doesn't think any of it should fall on his shoulders.


On Monday morning's Today Show, Ann Curry's interview with the former president - recorded over the weekend outside a Clinton Global Initiative event in Texas - addressed Clinton's inclusion on TIME's list of the "25 People to Blame" for the global economic collapse. "Oh no," he responded, "My question to them is: Do any of them seriously believe if I had been president, and my economic team had been in place the last eight years, that this would be happening today? I think they know the answer to that: No."

That's odd,

I would have expected Bill Clinton to stand up and take some amount of the responsibility. He has always represented an ethical "book end" for American politics.



Maybe it has to do with his selection of words.....

Like:

....."If I had been president, and my economic team had been in place".......

... ........then things would be humming right along
(is what he meant)

Clinton gets some of the blame for expanding the Community Development Act that Carter started, and signing off on the deregulation of financial entities. All little straws that eventually broke the camel's back.

Clinton only takes the blame for stuff he can blame on someone else.

Clinton was a President that enjoyed respect globally (some say 'despite' Monica - others say 'because' - while others don't give a flying fig - me for instance) Bush was a 'joke' figure globally and his administration dragged the standing of the USA to an all time low - B O now has the task of 'fixing' it up again!
