The Sterling CC 50' Catalina plans have a full size side view and a full size deck view, with written instructions on both sides of the sheet. There are no plans of the frames - or mold loft offsets to make the frames from. The written directions also include some isometric small scale drawings of some of the construction features.

Unfortunately, the 'plans' that came with the Sterling kits are nearly useless for recreating the models; consider them like the instructions that come with plastic kits. You might be able to get the superstructure / cabin from them if you're a good draftsman.

Better to try and find someone with tracings made from the kit parts themselves. There may be someone out there who made a set before he or she built their kit.

Sterling 42' Corvette

I started building this Corvette over 50 years ago while in the Army at Ft. Knox...I have the original Super Pittman Panther electric motors that were recommended on the plans at that time...now at 74, it's time to finish the boat. I am a little lost as to what R/C equipment I should be looking for...
I could use some advice as to the component selection for this boat today.

Check this current listing: It says it includes the parts templates. I see at least one sheetwood page and it looks as if the cabin parts are there. You should check with the seller, though.

e bay plans

The plans on e bay are for a 46 in model the original model was 31 and a 1/4 long
these plans are a weird size not quite 1/12 you would have to enlarge them or reduce them.

The Sterling kit yields, as noted, a model 31 1/4 inches long. The real boat was 50 feet long, or 600 inches long. If you divide 31.25 into 600, you arrive at a scale of 1: 19.2 or nominally a scale of 1:19. Sterling used this odd scale in producing some of their other models, such as the C-C 63' Motor Yacht (1:18.9) and the Richardson 27' Sedan Cruiser (1:19.0).
The plans on eBay that yield a 46" model are in the scale of 1: 13.04. For comparison, the Sterling C-C 32' Super Deluxe Cabin Cruiser is in the similar scale of 1:13.7.
For a model in true 1:12 scale, the 46 inch model would need to be enlarged to 50 inches in length. To his credit, Hotshot564 is working on a true 50" Catalina model, which appears to be a first.
