Speaking of the Red Bull Air Race series - I really hope they can make a comeback in 2014 as planned: http://www.redbullairrace.com/cs/Sat...21243236755435

I really enjoyed watching. In fact, I never missed a race.

Joel

Joel, thanks for sharing the word! I was wondering why I haven't seen them on TV for a good while.

Wanted to watch them with my Lil Polekitty, but obviously couldn't. Guess I'll have to keep him in good condition another year or so, huh!

Flew again today for 8 batteries. Two ungraceful landings, one slow nose-over with no damage, but hit the wings on the pavement on the other landing and scraped off a bit more of the blue paint. No real damage though, which is getting to be more of the norm.

Anybody ever use a Brushless ESC with the AR6400L found in the Sukhoi XP? I find with TX at min throttle, ESC usually spins the motor at 1/4 throttle (about) unless the 6400 boots up fast, with no LED on off on cycle. I have tried 2 ESCs I have so far. Servos (in place of ESC) do not stray from the min throttle position, connected to Motor port or the Channel 6. Very hard to use like this. I may try a third (Brush type this time) ESC later today..

I don't think there was a difference in the brushless output for the L board, but I also don't know.

Others have used the non-L version with brushless ESCs. I think there are some examples in the "Show off your 6400 plane" thread in the Indoor forum. There's probably something you have to do to properly program the brick, the ESC, or both.

Turn your throttle trim all the way down. Happened with a few of my micros, nothing to worry about.

I tried that, trim stopped the motor and then system reverted to running slow again after a few bootups. Update, tried another ESC, an old Brushed GWS and no motor running at min throttle. Back to Brushless ESCs again, same old thing, unless a perfect, no delay bootup of AR6400.

The same Brushless ESCs are working well with my old 72 Mhz Hitec. I think next I will try using Channel 6 on AR6400 for throttle signal, I mixed it Throttle -Ax1 with DX8.

UM Sukhoi with AS-3X

Has anyone put the Spitfire AS-3X board in the Sukhoi yet? If so, any thoughts?

I'm almost done with my 3D Beast board in a Sukhoi. I bet this would be more fun.

Brushless Sukhoi

How did that work out? I am now going to try a different ESC (XP7A), with my Sukhoi's stock AR6400L. I have as backup plan, a non (AS3X)Beast AR6400LBL on hand which will be a tight fit. Motor has no room, pushrods are long.

Wow...that sure seems like it'd be a lot of extra weight. Lead Sled?

It appears right now its 10g less than an sbach (54g) with a 210 mAh battery. The 2g Servo setup weighs less than a 1.7g AS2000L + bellcrank.

I could get it under 50g if I went with a better motor, but the 5g (actually about 10g with mount and wires) will be fine.
