Cox 020 fuel leak fix?

i got another ebay engine, froze up , fuel line plugged ect. (Cox 020)
I got it running but there is a small fuel leak between the back and the tank. I do not see any gasket. Any ideas to stop this leak?
It runs about 1 min 30 seconds if i start it quick . I have tightened the 4 screws and that helped some. Thanks; Don

There's supposed to be a gasket between the crank case and the tank. You could make your own. Take it apart and put a very thin coat of oil on the rear of the crank case. Press the crank case on a regular sheet of copy paper to leave an impression. Cut out the gasket with an X-Acto knife. Reassemble the engine with the gasket, and it will probably run better.

IIRC there is only a gasket in the middle, around the intake tube. Nothing between the OD of the tank and the rear plate.
There is a paper gasket between the tank and the crankcase. The outside edges of the "ears" can rip, then the tank will leak.

See pictures here:

You can get the overhaul kit that includes both gaskets from Cox international

Thanks. It is leaking by the back plate. It could be from around the screws, I am not sure.
I put a little gasket cement between the tank and the engine and that fixed that leak.
i did put a different back on from another 020, earlier version from the photos i have seen.

Sometimes the backplate distorts around the screw holes, and can crack just under the screw heads...fuel will leak from under the screw heads...especially if those tiny screws have been a bit over-tightened...

Done that (over-tightened) a few times myself, many moons ago whwn I was a kid and didn't realize...learned the hard way...

I'll check by the screws. I'll put a tiny amount of gasket cement under each screw. Thanks; Don

Make sure you debut the threaded holes in the crank case, sometimes they prevent the tank from sealing.
