Thanks, I ordered some.

So how are your guys' vtails coming along?

I spoke too soon. I didn't really care for the CC3D on the Vtail and took it off. I haven't been able to get it to fly the way I want when I fly it aggressively. I put an Armattan firmware KK2 Mini on it and got it flying last night. It took me a couple days because I had to kind of come up with my own mixes.(I kind of used the same mix I had on the CC3D) The mix I used on the full size kk2.1.5 wasn't working.
I'll see how I like this and if I don't, I'm going to MultiWii.

I tried a CC3D Atom on a mini build and it just sucked so I replaced it with a Flip32 (Naze32). I don't think I want to try any other FC. My Mini Vtail flies awesome with the Flip32 and I have one in my 400 build.

I got my Suppo/Mystery 2212 1400kv motors and had everything configured. One of the motors went up in a puff of smoke and took the esc so I ordered a different set of motors (RTFQ 2208 1800kv) and a replacement esc. I've been playing with my new Taranis and configured my Mini Vtail with it.

Got my motors and replacement ESC from RTFQ and replaced the cheap motors. I'm still working on troubleshooting it. The front right was getting hot, almost to the point of melting the heat shrink. I connected the ground as well as the signal wires from all the ESCs to the FC and that seemed to fix the front right but now the rears are getting hot but not as severe as the front right was.

I'm testing different mixes and settings to see if it clears the hot ESC issue I'm having.

Then just type in save and your good to go.
Or cut and paste (it works).

(For CF 1.9 and older)

cmix 2 1.0 -1.0 -1.0 -0.46
cmix 3 1.0 0.0 1.0 -1.0
cmix 4 1.0 1.0 -1.0 0.46

(For CF 1.10 and newer)

mixer custom
mmix 0 1.0 0.0 1.0 1.0
mmix 1 1.0 -1.0 -1.0 -0.46
mmix 2 1.0 0.0 1.0 -1.0
mmix 3 1.0 1.0 -1.0 0.46

Interestingly, this is the same mix I have on my Mini Vtail.

Just cut/paste the above in CLI. The FC will reboot. Done.

Best,

I tried your mix after using the default Vtail mix in CF and it didn't work well with the Hunter Vtail 400. During yaw, the rear dipped a few inches every time. The Hunter V is 40° where as yours is 30° I believe. That would explain the dip I was getting.

I gave up for today as I was making lots of dumb mistakes like forgetting to tighten the prop nuts and putting the props on the wrong corner . I'll get back to it tomorrow

*Edit*
I configured my motors as LF motor spinning CCW like my Mini Vtail. I tried both on my Mini and the LF CCW just felt better.

Here is my current setup .
I'm sick of the sound these RCX motors make. It's a shame because they do fly good. The bearings make an annoying rattling noise. I'm just going to get some t motors or cobras.

I haven't had a chance to show off one of my favorite builds yet. I built this a while ago and it flys well but I've never really been able to get GPS to work right with this flight controller.... Just haven't really spent much time with it I guess. I have a custom mix on it and it was EXTREMELY complicated to setup compared to some of the newer FC's out now.

Hunter V-Tail 500mm
Crius All In One Pro flight controller with gps and Bluetooth telemetry and OLED display
Multistar 2212 920kv motors
Turnigy 10ch receiver
Afro 30amp esc's
10x45 props
4000mah 3s battery

I've just never really flown it much due to busting it up the first couple of times tuning it and being a bit nervous of crashing it again! I'm still seeing issues I missed with this build now that I have a bit more experience under my belt. For example I was able to get it to fly finally stable and with very smooth stick responses with the custom mix but now realize I have the motors and props on backwards from how they are supposed to be setup!!! I'm planning a rebuild/reworking of it soon and will be changing up the motors and flight controller so this time I'll do it right!!

Wish I could have gotten the GPS to work right, but every time I switched it to GPS hold or return to home it would bank to the right and slam into the ground. If anyone has any experience with the Crius AIOPRO flight controller that could help me trouble shoot it I would be happy to keep this on it! I know it's outdated but it's just something about this flight controller that won't let me give up on it I guess......
