Can I please trouble you for the link to the prop that you used, the GWS HD 8x4 for the Suppo 2217K/6T. My APC prop, like you had mentioned, is no where near efficient and I want to make sure I don't get the wrong prop again.

Hi,

I've just "solved" DrKiwi's suppo from is data + the value of no load current from suppo (1.6A at 10V).

Made some calc with this motor:

@10.7V with GWS 8x4DD : 17.97A - 13583rpm (DrKiwi had 19.3A - 13380rpm)
@11.2V with APC 8x6E : 33.32A - 11851rpm (DrKiwi had 36.7A - 11220rpm)

The difference between calcs and true results can be explain by the fact that I extrapolate from prop data in the 7000rpm range, and by other unknown various small factors.

@11.74V with APC 8x4E : 24.68A - 13917 rpm

so your results are just fine I guess.

BTW, that would produce around 1050 g of thrust, probably a bit more.

The APC needs more amps for the same thrust than the GWS, IN STATIC, that doesn't mean it's a bad prop IN FLIGHT, it's just two different props as DrKiwi explained.

PS: I believe that with this motor, the GWS 8x4 is better for WOT around 60 km/h and below, the APC one is better for WOT around 80 km/h and above, still the APC always leads to a more powerful setup.

Wow... thank you so much for sharing your results. It gives me some closure in knowing that I wasn't completely wrong but simply using a different prop.

Do you have the link to the GWS HD 8x4 prop that Dr.Kiwi was using by any chance?

Hi Guys, I’m getting ready for the Winter in Mexico, that’s mean, no longer 45°C during the day..

I cool brother just got me a Midget Mustang (http://ecsvr.com/twm/shopexd.asp?id=3724) from The World Models, they suggest I use the following equipment..
• Outrunner Motor KM0203800
• Propeller Adaptor HW2340101, 7" x 4" propeller
• 25A brushless ESC
• 2 cells 7.4V 2100 Li-Po

What if I use instead the Rimfire 300 and 11.1V battery?

I really want some speed on this baby.

Rimfire 300 is only 1380Kv... if you want real speed you need a higher Kv motor, and slightly smaller, high pitched prop... a MicroDAN 2505 (~1885Kv) on 3s with a 6x5.5 APC E gets you 512g @ 76mph from 14.2A/152W... or if you went to 4s you'd get 700g @ 104mph from 19.60A/267W.

With a 5.1x4.9 Zagi on 4s it gets you 572g @ 90mph from just 14.30A/200W.

Ive run in to a situation where im seeing some weird unexplained data.

Im running a certain setup with a 1550KV 3128 bell motor using an FMS 35amp esc.

using the known good reference 3s 850mah 25C-50C turnigy nano tech, im able to draw 30amps at 240 watts on the watt meter. I only have one of these packs

I have four more of 3s 850mah 45C-90C fully charged and balanced using the same setup platform...all four packs somehow level down to 10 amps and only 90 to 100 watts....

Here is the kicker...

Ill put a 4s 850mah with 45C and I only get 14 amp draw at 148 watts....

I know this is not the ESC...because with that one special 25C to 50C 3s pack im getting the full capability of the motor....
?

on my other platforms I dont see this problem with the packs in question...just this particular setup...
