More misery for the extra today
I had a bad flight with my Spitfire while trying a 4 blade prop so I went to the trusty 300 for a nice feel good flight.
Schoolboy error time!
I should have gone for a coffee and consoled myself before any more flying, but no, I had batteries to use...
Rebound it to my 7s and went straight back out. Not even bothering to walk all the way out I took a short takeoff on the peri track, I fly at my gliding club so a full size airfield peri track is huge for a model!
As soon as I was up I tried to get it to height and trim it out. Before I had chance it was gone downwind and didn't seem to be responding to me.
I realized what was up. When I bind a model I straighten the antenna and stand with my back to the model for a weak signal. In my haste to go flying I hadn't turned it sideways again
By the time I had bent the antenna and told myself off it was in a half loop going down and I wasn't sure what orientation I was in...
Managing to roll it upright and try to pull out had it smacking vertically downwards into the soft grass. Relieved that there was no foam explosion I trudged over to inspect the wreck
Not too bad really, all things considered! Even the gear stayed on! My starboard wind has been glued in permanently following earlier abuse, now it looks like the port needs it too.
I pushed the wing back in tight and flew it again for a few touch and goes.
It still lives!
Looking a bit sorry for itself now, I don't know whether to retire this airframe or keep it as a beater. I don't really want to replace the airframe as I've kind of already replaced this plane with a bigger balsa Extra.
If I can find a fuse and wing set cheap enough then maybe...
