Qaher F-313

Apologies if there is a thread about this already, but I can't seem to find one.

I wonder if this is for real? It looks like a merging of several different aircraft. Nothing unexpected there but what puzzles me is the location of the engine air intakes. Aren't they in danger of being blanked in high alpha flight?
Anyway, this should make an interesting new pusher model if someone wants to have a go.

The intakes on the upper side of the fuse is most likely to avoid foreign objects being injested whilst on the ground in a country full of sand.

But the fact that its mounted on a turn table, in a building that does not look like your average airplane hanger, is a bit suss. Note the lack of industrial or millitary sineage, no tools, no equipment or trolleys, no visible fire extinguishers. Note the tiled floor, viewing windows, and structures with handrail etc. I suspect that this may be a mock up. The nose wheel tyre does not appear to be flattened at its bottom as most jets do. The finish of the plane, reflected in the light appears a bit rough. The one piece canopy looks a little flimsy.

There is also footage of it flying. But listen carefully and it sounds a bit like an RC jet turbine in the footage.

Im not knoking the Iran people. They have made some sexy looking jets. I think that they are under alot of pressure at the moment so anything is possible these days. Just my 2 cents. Cheers.

Yes, a bit suss, but it is quite neat. I especially like the anhedral tips which very few aircraft have ever used - TSR-2, XB-70, ME-162.
The way other designers deal with FOD is to close off the intakes when on the ground and have cheater intakes above. But other dust filled countries operate large air gulpers without doing this. And somewhere in the not so distant past Iran operated F14s which were very low to the ground.

I think the "unveiling" film shows a model, not a working prototype. The flying video is clearly a model.

My personal take is... "it looks ridiculous" and it reminds me of Firefox... and I really want to see it in the air!

Might be tricky to make it with depron. Might be tricky to make it fly too, but I'm sure if you get it going fast enough...

I like the way they pulled the nose off a Raptor, and the verticals off a Lightning II.

But of course, someone here will build one. Interesting design for sure.

Some good detail shots later on in this video. Unfortunately (for some) they make it look even more like a model.

I have a huge stack of depron under the bed... I might give this a shot, but it looks so much like Firefox I can't stop laughing

Still LOLing... Firefox I think was supposed to be based on a Mig-31, and it's possible that's what we're looking at here - a severely re-fitted Mig-31. It looks way too small though. It almost looks too small to be a real jet. I think maybe a 16-inch version of this in profile might be fun.
