The main struts shouldn't need to be bent at all, just cut off what's too long. The stock wheels have their own axles. They just mount on the straight strut using stock hardware. Not sure why you need to bend anything on the Eflite retracts.

This is why I was asking the question. I am not sure if he realizes that there are axles.

Ok , i try to explain again :

I hate the Axles which are mounted to the straight strut of the retracts..
On my PZ Thunderbolt i had the same straight retract struts ..
After harder landings , the axle was turning on that straight struts..

Then i bought the prebent struts fitted for the Thunderbolt (PKZ5317)
no need to mount the axle to the strut anymore ..
Perferct solution in my optinion..

Thatīs the reason , i was searching for prebent main struts for the Scimi , too..

I hope this was a little understandable now
Itīs hard to explain such technical things in english for a german guy

I installed the retracts already , how you told me , cutted the strut , installed the axles and wheels.. Retracting and extending works fine , without any binding..

Looking forward to maiden it , when the weather is better in Germany

Now I understand. Have you tried grinding a significant flat area on the strut so the set screw has sufficient area to grip?

So I was able to read through about 50 of the 90 pages in this thread. I just picked up one of these things a couple weeks ago. What do you guys recommend for a small speed upgrade, maybe 100mph? From what I saw while reading it looked like 100a ESC and a 10x9 or 9x9 prop. Has anyone identified a good upgrade motor?

So I did my maiden today. I was underwhelmed by the speed/thrust. I like the power setup on my carbon-z yak 54, but felt the scimitar was almost underpowered. I experienced the take off jump to the ground but solved the problem once it was trimmed and it didn't do it again. Just make sure you stay on the elevator. Flat spins nice. Landings took a little bit to get them nice but the key is to come in slow. I was coming in too fast and the plane would like to bounce. Test how slow you can fly up high and bring it in slow, main gear first and it will be pretty easy.

I know I will be first trying this motor and seeing how it does on 6s and apc 9x9 prop with a 100 amp esc

Here is some information from my post from January 28, 2012 on this forum. I hope it helps. It was not smart of me to run it for so long on the ground without any airflow on the motor or ESC. However, it is still running fine after a full season (at least 30 flights or so - I have other planes). I like this setup as it seems faster and the vertical is unlimited as far as I can tell (I stop going up when I just about can't see it anymore). With this setup, it does not feel underpowered to me. I get pretty good flight times with throttle management (5-6minutes).

On 5s 3300 with CC ICE 100 ESC using APC 9x9E Prop:
Amps WOT - 69.5
Watts WOT - 1240
Stock Motor = about 180 degrees after several 10 second bursts of WOT (no airflow - sitting on the ground) - ambient temp - 60 degrees

Good info. I wonder if the temperature you're seeing is much different than stock? Makes me think that 6s will fry motor with an apc 9x9. I have other motors that can handle it fine with same kv and are probably 120-130 mph.
