The range on the RTF radios is about 300 feet.
It will bind and work, but you will very easily fly out of range, at which point your Extra 300 will crash. Besides having bad feel and resolution, the RTF radios aren't recommended with larger planes, because its so easy to fly a large plane out of range. You can pick up a used DX5e for about $40 which will give full range, but won't have adjustable Expo or Dual rates, which make an Aerobatic plane much easier to fly. To get these features, you'd need at least a DX6i (or a DX6i Clone from HK). This radio would also have a 10 Model memory, so you can switch between planes without having to re do all of the trims, channel reversals, etc. |
