Name that Tool

I remember as a kid seeing a device which was used to copy contours. It was made up of parallel wires of equal length in a frame. You took the thing and touched it to a curved surface and it copied it. The wires would move to varying lengths and then you could copy it onto paper or whatever.

Did I see a one of a kind tool or did this thing have a common name? I'd like to find one if anyone knows of it.

Thank You! That's what I need to copy a wing. I concocted some crazy scheme to waste carbon tow and that's what I need is a gauge.
