1st build, Pilatus PC 21 scratch build

Hi all, this is my first ever scratch build and I feel it is coming along well. Here's what I have so far...

I plan on making a plane that is not quite 3d but does have some aerobatic capabilities. A sport flyer I guess. The total weight of the plane will be around 1000 - 1100 grams.

I'm not sure which motor to use

I have this motor lying around : http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=16230 but I feel it will not be enough power. ( 9x6 prop - 14.8v - 355W - 24A)

motor alternates:

1.)http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dproduct=18969

2.)http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...ner_motor.html

I also plan on adding retracts so I'd like the prop to be no bigger than 10".

Will post more pics soon....

Epic work!

I have a couple of different scale/sport scale PC-21 builds in different stages.

I'm addicted to this plane. I fantasize about variations of it like increased size, Tucano-esque weapons & sensor load outs, etc. Like the militarized, COIN version of the Texan II that lost the recent competition.

Thx guys, here are the plans I am using, I got them off the pilatus website and organized them in a neater arrangement.

Any recommendations for the motor I should use?

Thx pajlotmato, I was actually inspired by your build to make a Pilatus PC 21. I think it's coming along well. I'm currently working on a vacuum form machine to make the canopy. I'll post some screens when I'm finished.

Can you tell me where you got the vinyl adhesive for your Pilatus?

Ok so I attempted my first vacuum form but it definitely didn't come out as I expected it to. Can anyone tell from these photos what I might have done wrong?

I'm using PETG .02 plastic.

Shark Vacuum cleaner

And a homemade former sealer with silicone

Maybe I didn't let the plastic get hot enough?
