What was I doing today? 30 inch P51 Speed 400
Well, Sometimes I have to take a day off from cutting foam for other people and today was one of those days. I sized up a 3 view of a P51D and started up the old foam cutter.
I really enjoy seeing people's posts of something they were working on that day, so here's 2 pics. Blue foam fuselage blocked up is the first pic. The wingspan is 31 inches The second pic is the fuse in the process of being rounding up. Plan is I'm gong to use a geared speed 400 with an 8 inch prop. My thoughts are that with the wattage gearing, the close in flyby's will look terrific. Thats what I really want from a scale P51, terrific looking pull outs and rolls. The Airfoil isnt scale however, I chose something a little more familiar. For a standard bite in the air. Anyone else have a P51 around this size? Dean |

31 inch Mustang
Steelhead,
Looks like you 're off to a good start. I recently finished two 31 inch WS P51, one from Dow Blucor Fanfold and the other from Depron. The Bluecor Stang is floatier and not as agile as the Depron Stang, but both fly well. I'm using a GWS 350C motor, yours should really move on a speed 400. I am watching your build with great interest. Mr Boogie. |

VEE DON NEED NO STINKIN PLANS!!!! Actually- I can duplicate the fuse. I learned a long time ago to make it able to be reproduced even if your just planning a ONE-OFF If it works, I'll see what we can share Blue foam- yeah. Every now and again I use blue. Its not as good as pink, and its scored (cut through) every couple of inches so you have to cut the blanks all around the scores which is a pain in the butt. But I use Blue on a lot of wings and such now. GOBIGDALE- I'll let you choose next time wat foam you want!!! Dean PS- nice foamcor job! that stang is pretty! |

Oh boy-
I was looking through a couple of boxes today and found the fuse and wings for this plane. I HAD FORGOTTEN COMPLETELY ABOUT HER! Now I am feeling a little bad...must... breathe... life ....into project. Dean |
