Vic Smeed Dabchick build

I got the plan for this sailboat from the vintage list. Having made up all the bulkheads, frame for the stem, printed full size plan etc., now ready to build. However, it seems to me that it must be built upside down from the deck and sides added after attaching the bottom. I want to install RC for sails & rudder. I have some thoughts as to how I can proceed but with the huge knowledge base here, I will love to hear you guys suggestions for the best way to proceed.

thanks in advance - john k

That's an oldie (1960's?), but that's no reason for it to be a bad choice. When it was designed, radio equipment for smaller boats wasn't that feasible. I think it was a hard chine 24"ish boat and fitting radio gear should not be too difficult in this day and age. A standard servo should have enough "oomph" for sail control and will be plenty for the rudder. Basically, you need a firm building board to anchor the "upside down" frames at their set intervals and skin with balsa or ply. With either, seal the inside and out with several coats of sanding sealer and paint and you should finish up with a well mannered boat.
