49X25X4=4900, so a 4" thick box goes for actual weight of 9 Lbs.

49X25X5=6125, so a 5" thick box goes for a dimensional weight of 6125/166= 37 lbs! Needless to say that more than doubles the shipping cost.

So the first few boxes cost more for the people who really want them. The price of being the early adopter... lol

Knowing Don, Mike, and Ken, i am sure they are going to be very careful about how they are going to do this.

I am guessing that right now they are waiting for the boxes to arrive, then they will take one down to USPS and UPS and get a real price on shipping for the lower 48. Once they have that and it is finalized they will open up ordering.

So i would say don't expect much info until Thursday. Just in time for weekend building... at least for me

No longer waiting......Got a barn half full of foam, but we'll have to rework the boxes for shipping, but we'll get it done. Foam is white, low density, almost perfectly smooth, I think folks will like it.

So is foam up for sale?

not yet, We still have some work to do now that we can see what we're dealing with on the box. We want to insure minimum shipping cost, and maximum protection.

Just like to says thank you guys for all your efforts ..

You know, if this works out I think my club (www.suburbanrcbarnstormers.com) will be in for a few boxes. We occasionally have club build sessions and also use foam as indoor season Fun Fly door prizes. You can guess who gets the bulk of that. Heh.

Thanks Springer, wondering what you think 'low density' compares to? Is it similar to fff, Dollar Tree foam, Depron, or other? When it's time and there isn't a mad dash (don't want to deprive an anxious buyer) I'll be trying some. Just wondering.

Just ran some calculations. The sample Mike and I weighed today comes out to 2.07 PCF.
We are reworking the boxes down to 4" with the same 16 ct. quantity, keeping them below the dimensional weight break point.

Thank you Ken. 2.07 pounds per cubic foot is interesting, but I guess we will see the physical traits when we get our little hands on some.

Here is a pic of an opened box of product. The top sheet has a couple of small dimples in it. These sheets will be replaced with unblemished sheets.
