.20 .25 glow engines ?

Just wondering where have all the new .20 .25 glow engines gone? It seems none of the major r/c outlets sell them anymore! Can any one help on where I can purchase a new one. Thanks for your help, Nomad

Unfortunately since demand has waned production has ceased for a lot of formerly popular 25 size engines. ASP may still offer one .

The electrics have pushed up into the .20 size airplane domain and even into the .40 size plane domain too. Demand for .20 size engines and smaller has now turned into a trickle. So the engine companies are not making them. You will need to check Ebay and other auction and classified for sale sites for the engines nowadays.

Hobby King has the .21 and .25 ASP. If you want a warranty, maybe Magnum has something in the US. Get the blue head one if you can. I don't the the LA .25 is going any more, or the AX .25 either. Too bad, it is a nice size for mileage, standard servos, and they fly in a bit of wind.

I like 25 size planes too. Luckily I have several engines saved to fly with. My friend Bruce owns brucercengines.com he sometimes has 25 size engines. When he does they dont stick around very long.

I agree though, they're disappearing. You used to find several good deals a week in the classifieds for .25 and under, but they're getting hard to find now.

Hobby People still sell the XLS25, and Tower sells the OS25FX. There are a lot of them for sale on many different sites on the net.
I fly a few 25 size glow engined planes on a regular basis as I do not care for electrics. Ten to twelve minutes on 1/2 of a 6 ounce tank.
If you don't abuse them they last a long, long time and I have never heard of one exploding or catching fire.

This is great advice.

You can find NIB or gently used OS 25's for great prices. My favorite is the OS 25 SF series, I picked up two brand new ones last year for around $60 each and these are far better engines that what you can buy new anywhere near the same cost. One flip starts, good power, and as reliable as can be.

Depending on your specific model you can also find OS 25 FP's which run well but are not overly powerful, or the 28F which is a bit harder to find but a very good engine.

The OS 25 FSR series is also excellent but an older series so harder to find, plus the FSR's in all sizes are considered by many to be the best 2 stroke engines OS ever made so prices on NIB or used excellent are still higher than the others I've mentioned.

Before they were discontinued I had bough one of the then current OS 25 AX engines. It was fine but very pricey (I think I paid $159) but it was not as good as my 25 SFs. I ran tests in the same model using same props & fuel and the SF was superior.

25 size engines can be had all day on Ebay. I just got an extremely low time OS 25F ABC, and I am watching several other 25 sized engines now. They are out there.

Here is a nice one in the classifieds now. I know this fellow and trust him.

I have not used the nv engines .25, but I have used the 40 and the little ones. Those were very good engines and I find they ship promptly. The engines needed careful break in and I warmed up the cylinders the first couple of times that I fired them up. They were very tight.

Dub Jett makes a .25RC engine. It only comes in the bar stock series ($300), but has a true AAC piston/cylinder, remote needle, and tuned muffler. 9x5 APC and 15% nitro gives 17,600rpm. Engine weighs 14.6oz. The .30 turns a 9x6 APC at the same rpm and weighs the same. They're not cheap, but worth the money IMO.
