Spektrum 2014 DX6 vs. DX7 Gen. 2

I am looking to buy a new transmitter to replace my DX6i and am looking at the Spektrum 2014 DX6 and DX7 Gen. 2. Other than the additional channel and lithium ion battery, are there any other real differences between these two radios? From all the reading I have done, my impression other than the differences mentioned, is that the radios are essentially identical. Am I missing something?

Spektrum Transmitter Comparison Chart

2 & 3 position switch amounts
Rotary Knob
Servo balancing
Adjustable Servo Speed
Programmable Mixes & Curve Mixing
Additional Wing Type
Additional Tail Type

If any of these matter to you then the DX7gen.2 would be your option.

Thanks, freechip! GREAT comparison chart for most all the Spektrum radios (by the way, where did you find it?). Now to weigh the differences and make a decision.

I often recommend folks it's not about the channels but about what the higher channel transmitters have to offer in programming. Some of the things I listed for you as differences for me have now become a MUST HAVE so my choice when deciding between the 6 vs 7 would be a no brainer.

Good luck with your decision and if you have more ???? feel free to ask them, I own both the 6 & 7 along with the others so I may be able to help you more if you need/want it.

Go for the DX9. Everything you will ever need plus double antennas for diversity.
And an integrated charger that does not suck the battery dry like the DX6/DX7 LiPo pack could do.

The pack I'm using in my DX6 & 7 doesn't get sucked dry... I'm not using the pack with built in charger

Freechip-

Great solution. I removed the battery from the DX6 box and I am using the battery like you are doing. No more self discharging!
