Well i put my Turnbuckle idea threw a true test last weekend(page 7)

I did three flights and then started to pull the wings off to packup when I realized I never put the wing bolts in! The turn buckle was as tight as it was when I put it together Did 2 more flights the next day.. purposely leaving the wing bolts out this time, and no problem

I finally finished my HK Spitfire, had a great morning flying her. Final weight is 25lbs with 4 1/2lbs of welded steel bolted to the engine box. I am using the stock wing spar and it is holding great, I just modified the wing bolt plates and made them out of G10. I also just used the two little screws on the stabs, so they are removable.

Flying is a real pleasure with this bird, no nose over tendencies, but then I fly off of pavement. It lands like a butterfly with sore feet! I will post video tomorrow, a friend did the video and pictures. It looks awesome in the air, I must say I am very pleased!

Good Stuff Luke. Post that video! What CG did you end up using.

I had a dead stick at the worst possible time and couldnt get the gear up. She ripped both gear out.. but its not to bad. Just need to fix er up. However with winter just around the corner it looks like it will be a winter project.

Sorry to hear of your bad luck! That sucks man, great you can fix it though.

I went with the 5.5" back, it seems a touch nose heavy though, not much but I will slowly remove some weight to see how it feels.

Not a great video, but no one flies in our club so it is at least proof I flew the plane! I am extremely pleased with it's performance, very majestic in the air. Lock Tight is my new friend.

I have 16 flights on my HKSpitfire now, really a great flyer!

I tried the JXF props from HK, bought two and on one the hole was not in the center, no way to balance it! I decided to go to the local hobby shop and spend the $30 to get a nice prop. Also I updated the spinner with the Top Flite ARF spinner, very nice! I like how the white goes with the white stripe on the tail.

Need retracts!

I just bought one of these, and need a set of retracts. Have given up trying to get on hobby kings website. Anybody have a set they would part with? Please email me at kmay21@ aol.com

Good luck with your search Kim!

I have about 34 flights on my HK Spitfire now, got 3 more flights in this evening. I will show some update pictures of my engine installation when I take the cowl off again. I ended up going with the Jtech TF P-40 in cowl muffler, cost a lot more but it is much more robust.

I must say I was never a Spitfire fan but this thing is a real joy to fly, I can't say enough about it's great flying qualities! I wonder if it was an accident that they got it so right?!

Yea, well they could have gotten a lot of things wrong and it would still look like a Spitfire but fly like a mattress!

I have 51 flights on mine now, got 6 flights on it today and will be going out in the morning. It was a bad day today for perfect landings, most of the time it was gusty with a very annoying crosswind, but I got some video anyway.

Well, if you have to deal with a crosswind it's nice to have a "Texas" size runway!

Got 115 flights on my Hobby King Giant Spitfire and I am very comfortable with this plane, people say it is so majestic in the air!

Our club has a display at the Commemorative Air Force museum hangar at the San Marcos airport on Sat the 11th, so I decided to spruce up the old Spit for display. The CAF will be flying their B-25 and they have a car show also. I will be flying my indoor P-51 in the CAF hangar!

I matched the green as best as I could and found a Dupli Color primer that matched the gray, added panel lines and rivets to the wing along with a new set of "guns" from Hobby King. I'm very happy, an entire repaint was not needed but it looks like I did!

Love this plane!

Thanks SJ!

I finally got the PPB flat clear coat applied today, it really helped to bring it all together, no more differences in sheen.
