Question
Hyperion DS 095's on Airtronics RX?

When I connect a set a brand new DS 095's to my new airtronics RX ( 7 ch) they glitch sligtly. I'm wondering if the plugs are causing this. Before I cut the plugs and soilder on some airtronics plugs, I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem? I did remove the lip of the plug to be able to connect them. I've pluged other servo's to the RX w/ no problems.... After close inspection the pins on the hyperion's are different than hitec/airtronic's servo pins but not sure why the glitch-y-ness?

That should not make them glitch.

What other specific model of servos have you had plugged in, and which style of Rx is it (FHSS1 or FHSS3)?

The plugs on the Hyperions are universal, and if it's the 7ch Fhss1 92674 Rx you should be golden. Are you using an older 72mHz Rx?

The Hyperion plugs are Futaba, not universal. They have the tab on the male plastic connector which must be removed in order to insert them into a JR or "new" Airtronics socket in an Rx....

Plugs should be fine but some of those 095's have bad pot wiring. You'll know if they react to squeezing, tapping, or wire tugging.

yes they do react to touching wires...bad pot wiring? is it a solder problem?

Yes. Pot wires inside. Some threads and pics here on RCG. Or get replacements.

Jeremy-

How's the shaft rock on the 095's??
I absolutely LOVE the DS11's, but the DS13's seem to have a lot of shaft rock due to them having only one ball bearing. I think the 095's have two, so that should not be as much a problem?

Yes, DS13's are junk. Shaft rock on the 095 is minimal, maybe on par with 761's. The 2.3mm thread makes 3rd bearings tricky so I came up with a solution that works extremely well -- just a 6mm OD brass tube. The servo arms have a deep well that seems pretty precise at 6mm and the tube doesn't interfere with the screw. It actually makes for an unusually solid and true-running setup since it interfaces directly with the arm instead of a screw. See pics:

That is a very interesting solution... So the brass tube acts as a plain bearing inside the servo arm.

Yep. The brass-on-nylon makes a pretty nice wear surface and the load path and concentricity are possibly better than traditional screw-based solutions. It's likely the lightest possible 3rd bearing setup imaginable as well as the cheapest and easiest to install/service. The friction is slightly higher than a bearing of course, but it's very low and the good concentricity keeps the friction more consistent than other solutions.

A touch of moly grease might help with friction concerns.
