hi guys, thanks for the very good info on this model. I am close to maiden on mine. Going electric.
I, like many others, have found it necessary to pack loads of lead in the nose to achieve COG. I am going for 80mm for COG. I've decided to go down the 2 x 6S lipo's instead of having dead weight. I've got one pushed right up against the firewall and another directly behind. I'm hoping this is going to give me a flight time of around 10 mins. I'll see how I go regarding the gyro for the rudder, I'll be prepared to yank in alot of right rudder for the take -off.
Interested to know if many others have got the 2 x 6S setup. btw, it is 2 x 6S 5000mA wired in parrell.
Regs,
Simon

How heavy will those be? My 5Ah packs weight around 820g, so using two of those would be a lot of extra weight I think.

all up weight is less than 6KG. Where is your COG guys? Seems like putting lots of weight on the nose end is the done thing going from what I have been reading. Joe, were you using 2 batt's?
Cheers

just 1 x 6s5k25c got 7 minutes plus 1 to land. burn rate was something like .540amps/ minute.

Takeoff was alittle nip and tuck with that settup (i fly in wind and it could not handle high winds). nothing a model flown in winds it was intended for will have problems with.

and repairable which is why it was chosen for my wind flier. but the e-flite power 60 just did not cut it on takeoff in wind like i said above, oh we have really tall grass at our field(its a political thing, dont ask) making rotation speeds lower.

my electric setup of choise is:
5065-320
8s5k25c
100amp ESC
15x10 or 15x12

it will get me out of the grass (like a rocket if need be) and i can throttle back to realistic speeds once airborn. surprisingly the burn rate is lower with that setup 460ma/minute at full tilt. but when throttled back i can stretch the fllight to ten minutes with a burn rate of 400ma/m to 430 depending on the manuvers.

i know im running the motor in second gear but it works.

what is your all up weight and COG guys? I'm a little nervouse about mine now, lots of nose weight like this wasn't required on the H9 spit. Just to clarify, mine balances a slightyly nose heavy at 80mm from leading edge up against wing root.

cheers

Just a question about flaps......I have all 4 flaps controlled by the 1 channel. Am only planning on using them for landing. What have folks got setup for flap angle? 30 degs?

Cheers
