Splash

The FY-41AP Lite with integrated OSD video overlay is for FPV flight on fixed-wing aircraft.

If you fly FPV in a fixed winged craft an on screen display and return to home feature is necessity. It is that added insurance of getting your plane back if you have an issue. It also makes FPV flight easier and more fun. The FY-41AP is a solid performer and the new FY-41AP Lite comes in at a great price - $159. Based on info from the site the "lite" part of this unit is that is it only for fixed wing craft. The standard version can be used on mulitorotors as well as planes.

This autopilot uses a 3 axis gyro, 3 axis accelerometer and a barometric pressure sensor to accurately measure flight attitude, earth azimuth & relative altitude to achieve:

  • Extremely stable flight patterns
  • Stabilized 3D flight
  • Return to home (RTH)
  • Fixed altitude flight
  • Heading lock flight
  • Auto circling over a fixed GPS location

Supported aircraft:

  • Normal / Traditional fixed-wing planes

The key part they have cut out is the waypoints. Thats been terminated. The magnetic compass is gone too i think. But yeah seems like a great deal. Its at price parity to an Arkbird but has actual airspeed sensor. Its a good price.

This looks like a good FC/OSD. It's unfortunate that (like most at this range) it doesn't support PPM input.

I really don't get the point of launching a new AP without RSSI and PPM in, just silly

You guys have a point,
simplicity of PPM (1 servo wire to RC RX) is neat,
and RSSI is important too!

I could live without PPM although it's nice, but no RSSI is a deal breaker for me

Well...... its not the end of the world. Couple of methods can be used.

A PPM converter for e.g RMILEC converter to talk to the OSD.

and a simple cheap osd ( HobbyKing ) to display RSSI voltage in a overlay format (both osd'd running simultaneously)

Probably not the best as there will be more electronics to deal with but will get you flying.

Too much to ask for i think but is achievable.

Well you could do that of course but the point is to buy an integrated AP+OSD, not buying more extra hardware just to display a simple voltage on the screen. Besides, a FPV newbie looking for a PNP solution would not go that route but would rather prefer a more integrated solution.

Yes. You are certainly correct. If FY would integrate these 2 options with the new AP lite or even with the big brother it would be the best Autopilot system in the world. You could not ask for anything else.

The best autopilot system in the world is questionable. It could the best for you and not the best for me. It depends how well the AP satisfies your requirements and the way it accomplish them.
