Uwe et al, I was in Germany this summer and saw one of the Blackhorse Grunau models up close. Was very impressed with the quality. Infinitely better than Lanyu or Phoenix Models.

Alberto...planning to import them?

Regards,

Steve

Funny you should say that Steve, as Phoenix models is the manufacturing OEM for Blackhorse models not to mention quite a few others if you have a look indide the telltales are there ie the shape size and location of the lightening holes etc. :-)

Big Nuts, I agree...Blackhorse model construction looks very much like Phoenix and maybe they are the very same company but the Grunau Baby's fit and finish looked much better than my Phoenix K8 which is certainly respectable. Maybe Blackhorse is the "high end" of Phoenix?! But by any standard, Lanyu is just plain awful.

Agreed the ka8 was their first attempt at building big, I've seen the pics of kyosho , blackhorse models under the Phoenix banner ad have been told they also
manufacture for horizon too. I think a lot of it comes down to rhe designer. As to
Phoenixs latest offerings they are improving and now offer warbird with a fabric finish and retracts too..... There moving up in the Arf world.

Uwe, do you think your motor setup will allow self-launch or more as a sustaining system?

Hi Steve

With the RFM 20x13 (A60-18L / 12S LIPO) it will have ~2655W, so 136W per kg. This must be good for a self start with a small dolly.

Sounds good, Uwe. Are you planning to support the long motor shaft with a bearing near the prop?

Use I have been looking for that motor on Hackers website but could not find it. Do you mind pointing me into the right direction?

Thanks,
Mannie

Hi Mannie

The front support bearing is shown in the picture/drawing no. 5 above.

Here you can find the gliderversions:
