Looks good Bonnie, I haven't added anything to my fuselage yet. The stripes or someother way to make the wings stand out it a very worthwhile addition. I flew a few days ago in bright clear sky, and it really stood out. I also landed on some freshly mowed grass. My landings looked much better without a wingtip catching in the taller grass.

I don't know of the style of holographic tape on my plane. It was already there when I bought it. I understand many vinyl sign stores carry it. I've heard of "rain" and several others that seem to work fine.

I've also used plain "chrome" vinyl. It doesn't work quite as well, but it was free.

I have used the silver and the black Holographic tapes on my leading edge , the advantage is that when you are flying far away from you you can always tell the way the plane is facing when you see the "sparkle of the tape" when the sun hits the tape. If the plane is flying away from you you can not see it. It has saved me several times I have bought them on ebay , here are some links to places that carry it , hopes this helps, geoff

Bonnie nice repair!!, you may also want to try placing a carbon fiber keel along the bottom of the rear of the fuse... just like you did on the sides and top....

Thanks for the tip.
I'm cautious about adding too much weight behind CG. I'll test with additions as is, then if OK add the carbon keel as suggested.
Have also added some glider skids to the wing wips to save wear and tear.

There has been a few asking about how the 2 meter (78" span) ST Model ASW-28 glides. I have the 2m ST Model ASW-28 and present my video for compairison. On a couple of fly-by passes you can hear it whistle and then when just gliding how it flys into a 3-5 mph WNW wind. Anyway, thought you guys might want to see this.

Modified with the following specifications:

- Modified fuselage and winglets glassed with cloth, soaked with Zap medium CA, sanded and painted white and red. This solves the wobbly fuselage and T-Tail.
- Wing spar cut in half, aluminum shaft glued with 5~6 deg dihedral on wing spar.
- Modified motor: TowerPro 2409-12
- Propeller: Graupner 8x4,5
- Spinner: Art-Tech ASK-21
- ESC: HobbyKing 30A
- Battery: 3S Parkzone 1300mAh 15C
- Scale Pilot: Hans
- Graphics: kewlartdesigns.com

Note: the only other modification, I plan to add some carbon 3mm strips slit into the underside of the wings and gorilla glued for the entire length.

Video camera used for entire footage was a keychain 808 #11 with 4GB card.
Still photography, Olympus E-500 DSLR with 40-150mm lens.

NOTE: This video is NOT the FMS ASW-28

AUW is right at 730 grams (25.74 oz), 1.6lbs with my modifications.
Graphics are available through kewlartdesigns.com as PDF $15, you print or $29.95 + shipping, printed on clear.

I've been wondering about that process. It sure seems to produce a beautiful finish!
IIRC you used an unconventional cloth - sheets or pillowcase or something?
And sounds like it'd take load$ of CA. Any filler (ala the old talcum powder trick) used?
I'd really love to learn the detailed steps of what's involved.

Hi, StarHopper.

I'm not entirely sure about Studio's process but I have been playing with smaller bits of "glass". I'm using Skloft and, despite it being a lot thinner than cotton fabric, getting smooth results. I'm also using HobbyKing CA which is a fraction of the cost, even including shipping, of any name brand CA. Of course, one must always test the glue on a particular airframe because there seem to be as many different foams as there are manufacturers.

I also did a small test area on foam that the HK CA will dissolve. I just coated the surface with epoxy thinned with rubbing alcohol. It would probably get too heavy for an entire airframe but would work well for reinforcing a smaller area. On the other hand; it only takes the barest coating of epoxy and one scrapes off almost all of it. Patience and a steady hand could get very good results.

This is the stuff I'm using. $5.28, including shipping, for 1.7oz. It does not melt the foam on my ST ASW 28 but can't tell you if it's safe for the FMS foam.

I have also used this foam safe thin CA with good results. It's more expensive than the "plain brown wrapper" CA but has not melted any foam I've tried it on and seems to stick very well.

I just tip stalled my Cularis. I want to get this plane but I need to know its stall characteristics before I buy. Also how reliable is Banana Hobbies?
