From what I hear powered dives are actually slower than glide dives.

But yea I will take it a little easier on it.

ok folks, i just was referred to this thread when i was asking for data on the dynamic-s from hobby king, and it seems to be a clone of this 1.
for that, i hope am not considered intruding.
could any1 tell me if hobby king sells a motor that matches the 1 used in this plane?

Looks like a 480 class motor maybe good for 350 watts or so. Mine has 1150KV printed on the shrink tubing that surrounds the base of the motor leads.

the Hobbyking version Durafly Dynamic-S (don't ask why).
For reference:

38.5mm Overall length (not including shaft)
20.5mm Can length
35mm Can diameter
920kv (stamped on to the heatshrink - only marking)
121.5g weight (incl connectors)
4mm shaft
14mm shaft length

i wish he could tell me the exact part number from hk.

Yeah I put it to the test a few weeks back with a GPS logger on board. I did several climb outs then rolled over into a vertical. To get max speed throttle could be punched only at the very start of the dive. If you kept the throttle on through the dive the prop created drag. From memory top speed I achieved was around 83mph from a vertical un-powered dive.

On another note I had a rare crash with this glider last week. In the past I have always flown this glider under windy 20-30kmh or more without incident. Last weekend the wind was quite lite at around 10kmh. Anyway I had it powered off into the wind going real slow. In high winds this was never a problem. I even had it moving backwards a few weeks ago in high winds. It was no go going slow with power off with this bird in low winds. I had it into the wind moving real slow, and I glanced over at a friends YAK55 which was close by when it suddenly dropped a wing and spiraled in nose first smashing the front end in. Nothing plenty of glue and a bit of patience could not fix though. Now I'm just waiting for the weekend to see if she still flies straight and true under power

These measurements were all taken from the stock motor that came with the Dynamic-S PNF. I don't believe they sell the exact same motor individually, however this motor seems to have very similar specs: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dproduct=14847

Not saying it's always the case, but in my experience it's kinda rare for any motor on a plane sold by HK to be listed under HK's inventory unless it's shown/sold as a direct replacement part.

I believe that's because the motor used on the plane isn't HK's call at all, but is a decision made by the plane's mfr, and like as not, it's produced by one of their subsidiary companies or bought under contract to be used in the plane's production.

IOW, like General Motors isn't gonna go to Smith's Chevrolet Inc dealership in Dallas to supply the engines for the Chevies they produce in Arlington - kno'm sayin'?

'Catalog' motors are gonna cost considerably more than what can be bought en masse thru mfr contracting - prime reason for doing it that way, allowing motors that'll barely scrimp by on performance & sometimes even appearance, which helps keep final selling price down & makes the product viable for generating profit -- while on the other hand, 'catalog' motors are the product in & of themselves. Hence, coincidentally rare you'll find 'build' motors being available as 'catalog' motors, & in almost all cases the latter being considered 'upgrades', with their own profit margins built in.

Stupid question time: I just received my new Dynamic-S... and I've installed a Spektrum AR6115E... which is described as a "Park Flyer" Rx. Am I inviting range issues with this plane, considering how quickly it can get "far away"?

I have an AR400, but it wouldn't allow me to do flaperons. And I have an AR8000 that seems like overkill. I'd like to use the AR6115E, but am unclear about how much range I can expect from it.

So AR6115E: Safe, or stupid, for a Dynamic-S?

Have someone hold your Blaze standing beside the road, drive your car 2/10 mile away. That's 1056'. Get out, turn around, & look at -- make that, look 'towards' your plane. Operate your Tx's sticks, drive back & ask holder were the controls working.

This test should remove any doubts you might have.

they don't tell you the prop, but shows lots of power-or could be that it is with 4 cells?

Divide the max 580W by the max 42A current, = 13.81V.
Would have to come from the 4s.
