Micro Sportwin

I picked up a couple MAX 1 (Dymond) motors for DD at the Mid Am, and just got two 2.5" props from Hobbico, so I'm looking at doing a 28-29" Sportwin Micro
Anbody have any idea what kinda amps these will pull? think I need a 2 amp or a 5 amp ESC???

No experience with those motors, but I have tried another on the bench that might work well for this project.

A gws ips s2 ( 3.5:1) with a zagi prop on 3 cells draws about 2.0 amps, and should be around 10k rpm, but I have no tach to confirm. Does howl during a static test though, with lots of pull.

A perfect batt for two of these would be the 3s etec 1200 or a 3s thunder power 2100 pak.

Sucker would fly all day. I wonder how fast a scale ips powered plane could theoretically go?

Mark,

All of Dymond's park flyers that use the Max 1 calls for their 5 A ESC.

Many planes using this set-up have 8 cell 110 Mah Nicad or 8 cell 300 mAh 1/2 AAA NiMh batteries.

Hopes this will help.

Viper

P.S. Slowly building the Black Widow, but have 3 other planes in the works, too, so it probably won't be finished this summer

Well, a twin will need a 10 amp esc then. Those are cheap, should be no problem. Will be building from scrap wood, 1/32 wing skins, 1/16 fuselage (maybe 1/20, I have some of that too). I can't go to the KoKams or anything, no way to charge.I need small NiMh or Nicads.
I bet the little sucker will go fine on these two little motors Direct Drive. You just know it's going to be really cute.

Mark, I charge my LiPo's with a 10 buck cell phone charger. It certainly isn't the most efficient, but I get 30 minutes on my Alfa P-47 from my Etech 1200 2s. Are you just scaling down the plans?

Sounds great. What about 2 DD IPS or EDF motors?

Just scaling the plans and doing minor mods.Printed them to 29", but that looks a bit big for these little motors, so I'll go down to 26" or so

I charge my LiPo's on a homebuilt charger that cost $15 from Radio Shack parts. Downloaded the schematic from right here on the zone. Works great on the 1200's or smaller.

Sign me up for a micro Sportwin. I'm definitely into small and fast!!

me three... how about two gws edf motors, 3x2 or 3x3 props, CC pixie 14p, and two kokam 340ma batteries? add a berg 4 (nice and small to fit), cirrus 4.9 servos, you're at 2.5oz for everything but the empty airframe. you might get vertical out of it!

always liked the sportwin, where do I buy plans? ever going to cut a short kit? I'm lazy

a micro one does sound really fun. add some micro retracts, and we're talking
