AirShowrc.com and RC Lander Exclusive First Video MiG-17 Huge Foam Jet

Hey Fellas,

I had a very unique opportunity to finally visit Tim at RC Lander Technologies
in Shenzhen China after hoping to do so for some time.

It is a little easier for me to do so, because I am an American living in Wuhan China.

I have a fiberglass and Composite ARF Factory which makes composite jets for
Airshowrc.com and alot of the models that Nitroplanes.com sells.
Also I do Product Development for Arizona Models and EJF, Electric Jet Factory.
I had to make a quick trip to Hong Kong for some Chinese visa work.
Now, was the perfect time to get together with Tim.
Me and Tim go back a way, putting our heads together.
I was very impressed from the first time I met him, his ideas to
improve the design and future of foam jets. He has ideas that are fresh and to
make better models and great customer service his number one priority.

Well, Last night I went to the RC Lander factory and Tim invited
me to go with him in the morning to put the first flights on his brand new
MiG-17 Huge Foam Jet.
I was very surprised when he gave me the honor to be the first outsider to lay eyes on it for the first time.

I took some snapshots and video of a quick bench and taxi test.
Later I will post the flight videos when they finish uploading to youtube.
I am also including a picture of the All New RCLander PC Panther, plastic covered foam jet now ready to ship.

I hope you all enjoy,

Thanks, Richard

Vic,

Hopefully we can get one to test out. That looks sweet. The Panther with the new plastic covering looks really slick. Borat once said, "Nice. Very nice"!!

MiG-17 First Flights today

The weather seams to be good this morning, we have had 3 days of rain here in Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
I need to thank Tim for his great hospitality and the beautiful hotel accomidations.
After breakfast, Tim will pick me up and we will go flying.
I will also get better pictures of the plastic covered foam Panther while I am at the factory.
Thanks, Richard

Hey Richard, thanks for taking the time to report on this and post some pictures. We'll look forward to your next install; and as always, thanks to the RC Lander team as well!

Man the MIG is BIG, larger then I thought it was going to be; gonna be harder to hide this one from the wife the old "...no honey, it's not a new EDF just a repainted one..." isn't going to work this time around methinks...

RCLander EDF 76mm Aluminum fan performance on the new MiG-17

From what I understand, this jet will be flying a 1to1 weight ratio
using the RCLander 76mm Aluminum EDF unit on 6 cells.
We will try to get the best performance while trying to keep the weight down.
I think with this combo, there will be a great success.
I will be more specific on all the stats soon when I get them.

Awesome!!! I have been thinking about this exact thing now for a while. I have been wondering why they dont cover the foam models in a plastic or monokote type film to make them much stronger and ding resistant, plus it will hide the mold marks. Whatever the weight penalty is I'm sure its minimal! This is a great idea!!! Then we wont need to glass em if done correctly!!! I hope he offers this on all his future models. I cant wait to see a finished mig-17. How much $$ is the plastic covered models gonna add to the pricetag?????

Hey Joe, I think while you were "away", Tim posted some info and maybe photos on the Panther version with the plastic covers...in the original Panther thread here.

Hope you folks have fun flying the new Mig today .... looking forward to the video!! I wish I could be there to get some good still shots on these special maiden flights!

HEADLINE! Car Drives Over And Smashes the Mig-17

A Shocking ending to 2 succesfull fights of the RC Lander MiG-17.
View the photos.
The internet is very slow here and I could not connect to youtube to
upload the flight and smashed video.
I uploaded to google videos this morning. It will be available in a few hours.
Overall the plane flys great and very stable.
Plenty of power using the 76mm RCLander Aluminum EDF using a
80a ESC and two, 3 cell 4500mah batteries.

Better than ever MiG-17 already on the way...

Here we go, video as promised:>>>
You can hear my nervous laughter at the end, not because it was
funny at all, but only because I could not believe what just happened, a total shocker!
I tried to give Tim some words of encouragement.
