![]() I do get a little envious of your choice of products and the prices you pay in the US, I am not sure what your average wage is compared to here, but my income is such that i can't afford to buy all the planes i want ![]() Keep up the fantastic work with the build Bruce ! |

Thank you very much... rupert Just to let you know I'm building on a very tight budget I have been laid up for several years, So that's why I make most of my stuff by hand and try to show the average builder out there you can still do this even if you don't have a shop or a lot of cash to play with. If you take your time and spread the build out over a year plus and buy a bit of supplies each month and get creative and use house hold items when you can you can create a very nice model. I didn't realize that you also live in NZ, I love food and have a degree in culinary and cook food from around the world all of the time but never knew that NZ had such a reputation for food I must go there some day god willing! so thank you and every body for flowing along looks like we may have two other builders posting there Mossies here now and I'm looking forward to it.

After making the statement about choice and price it dawned on me that most of the craftsmen make things themselves anyway
![]() Mike partner also has a degree in the food industry and owned her own restaurant for 10 years (it is a battle to keep my waistline in check!) I think one of the great things about the food we have is the variety that is available fresh on our doorstep, from venison to seafood. Sorry to digress from building the mossie i am easily distracted by food

Hey every body I wasn't very happy with the first locking part of the strut that I had made it had to much side to side motion so I went back and reengineered my design it's hard to explain so I took some close up shots hope you can see the changes and I still think I need to make another and drill it so that it will set in deeper into the slot that I have cut. Progress is very slow but I'm learning as I go and remaking new parts this way does take time so check out what I have so far.

Alright this morning I remade the part of the strut w/ the spur on it and this is what I been after when in the locked position the shaft is stream line just like the rod. It doesn't look like I've been doing much but every time you make these parts it's not only the shaping of the part but the drilling and tapping of the parts free hand and the music wire is very hard so instead of buying a hole lot of drill bits I have been resharpening the ones that I have w/ the grinder. Just a few more parts and I will be able to get one of the gears completed and assembled and then I'm sure there will be some thing else to contend with to make it function.
but I put together what I have so far and you can see it coming together.
