Considering a 50" Deep Vee... your thoughts?

Hi folks.

I have a Schulze 40.100WK controller looking for a home in a good Deep Vee for my lake.

Motor / battery options considered up to a Plettenberg Teras 50BM, 14s ...

It'd be interesting to run trim tabs and drive angle on servos too, since I have the channels available on my 4PL.

Where should I start? Any examples worth looking at?

Thanks,

- Mike

Hi Mike,

The Teras 630Kv on 14S looks like a perfect match for such a large hull.

Keep in mind that remotely adjusting the shaft angle and trimtabs (which are considered brakes on a well set-up boat) are merely gadgets.
Once your set-up is dialed in, these controls are most likely to rust solid, as you'll never use them again...

Keep us posted on your progress!

Regards, Jan.

Thanks Jan!

Do you have any hulls to recommend?

Aeromarine Outerlimits looks interesting, and I always liked the B-28 too...

I'd like something that can play in some choppy water (maybe without having to be self-righting)

Hi Mike,

Living at this side of the pond, I'm not very familiar with what's available to you, so making suggestions is a bit arbitrary, I'm sure forum members at your end can make suggestions easier... (Scorpion1 would be one, when he pops up again.)

Apart from that, my biggest fast electric is 31,5", I have no experience with powering such a large hull.

Regards, Jan.

A club member runs an Outerlimits XXX hull on 10S, it is a nicely running boat but it is not 50" long - just 45.5". With a Castle 2028 it runs around 60 mph as it is currently propped to oval race. The hull has a bit of lift, so it may not be too flighty in really "rough" water, whatever that means to you. How rough is rough? Any boat can flip over, and I have never seen a 10S boat with the self-righting feature (although they may exist).

Hi mike,The Aeromarine Donzi 49 (49 inch) can handle rough water apparently.Since you can buy the hull only,it would be ideal, because you could build it, with your own chosen hardware.I was going to get the Donzi 49 hull only myself, but it costed the same,as my 50 inch fountain, with hardware already installed. Here in Australia the Donzi 49 hull only is $550,in the states its only $319.regards damian

You might find someting of interest on this page. I've never tried one of his big monos but this was the originator of the Pursuit 32 hull which handles excellent.

My next build is a 50" Fountain P1 Replica with a twin setup. 8S per motor, two TP Power 4060 / 980kV, Here is the hull painted. Hobbywing had problems with 130A HV esc, do you know if this esc works fine now?
