Good news for Sterling Missouri owners!

I just got one of those "what's new" emails from LuckyModel.com.

One of the items listed is a plastic model "1/200 OS2U-3 with launcher (x2) from a company named "RIICH". The box art shows a Kingfisher on a catapult- so I'm guessing that's what they mean by "launcher".

Here's the link: http://www.luckymodel.com/scale.aspx?item_no=RI-RS20003

There's already the 1/200 Arizona, but it doesn't need new catapults and floatplanes. I know there has also been a 1/200 USS Hornet announced, but this kit doesn't apply to a carrier.

Makes me wonder-- is there a pending USN WW2 capital ship coming in 1/200 that these would go on? Seems likely-- as the first hint we got on the USS Hornet was the announcement of 1/200 B-25s and other planes for a Dolittle Raid carrier.....

But in the meantime, this new kit would certainly dress up the fantail of an old Sterling 1/192 scale Missouri model!!

I noticed on the website - bottom of the page launcher parts displayed. Nice kit in that scale!

Odd thing is, they wouldn't do this for someone else's kit, which would already include same... so could it be Riich that's going to do an American BB? They already have a 1:200 Gato...

When I posted this over on Hyperscale, someone responded to say that Riich is rumored to be working on a 1/200 scale Iowa class......

I figure they gotta be working on something, can't imagine there's enough market for a standalone Kingfisher and catapult kit in that oddball scale, otherwise......

I think the Missouri never had kingfishers on it. It had the sc-1. I'm not sure about the other Iowas

I believe that Iowa and New Jersey both carried OS2U Kingfisher's originally. Not sure about Wisconson and Missouri, but I think the latter did as well. The SC-1 was not introduced until very late 44 or ealy 45 I believe.
