Freewing 90mm 12 Blade Metal EDF 6S Power System with 4068-1680kV Brushless HET Inrun

has anyone seen any numbers on this combo? How many amps and watts its operating on? thanks

for those that don't know, it is an upgrade for several of the Freewing 90mm EDF's.

It pulls about 118 amps on 6s IME. It's nice... Just a little to amp hungry for me. I'd rather run a hot JF90/HET 2085kv and actually get some speed for an amp draw that high.

Alpha10, you are saying a lot more amp draw with very little extra speed on that FW fan ? You didn't mention watts on that FW setup. Picking the unit is my problem. The JF90/HET2085 is $250; the FW90/HET1680 is $80 cheaper. What about some numbers on that JF/2085 setup. How to pick. Need some comments from someone who maybe had both.

Cheaper is not always the way to go! I prefer quantity over cheap ..

For my FlyFly F-86, it will have a JF90/Het 700-68-1500Kv on 8s

A companion question to all this is: for a 6s setup on a JF90 fan, how do I pick the right motor? Freewing is using a 1680kv HET and I know others are using the 2085kv HET?

Go here and look at the 6S performance table. http://effluxrc.com/Jetfan-90mm-EDF-...g-JF-90EDF.htm

The 1680 kv will be slightly better than stock, 1865 quite a lot better, 2085 is quite hot.

FWIW, 1680 is very usable on 8S for future projects. A Mini-Avanti for instance...

It is too bad FW or CS hasn't made a 10 blade fan in 90mm size to help with efficiency (like the CS 70mm version).

No no... He's talking about the 1680 in a FW12 vs the JF90.

The Freewing inrunner version is considerably better than the stock 1550 outrunner, no doubt... The thrust is very strong with it and the speed is decent.

The JF is just more efficient in terms of amp to power ratio.

It really depends on how heavy the plane is, if you want sound more than speed, and what size packs/flight time you want.

Agreed... Although I DO use the HSD 10 and Taft 11 blade units in some of my planes with great success

I just want this plane to have decent speed flying at less than WOT. Whether the FMS90/HET1680 combo will do that, or I need to go JetFan still trying to work out. I had to have 1.75 oz of lead in the tail to get the CG at 185mm using the Zippy Compact battery. Unfortunitely my mornings testing was completely ruined. I now have a new problem - the nose gear works fine on the ground; airborne it will not go up. Tried three times, so now I have to tear into that little problem.

What plane are you talking about? The nice thing about the FW12 1680kv is that it's heavy and you won't need to put any dead weight in the tail anymore.

The JF combo is much lighter and sounds like it wouldn't be ideal for the airframe if you're already adding tail weight.

The plane is version 1 of the Sebart 90mm G-91. It has a 90mm Freewing 6-blade fan. no idea what the kv is, it could be 1750 but not sure.

I've followed the G-91 thread and I saw this. I suggest you invest in this:
From XtremeRC
http://www.extremerc.com.au/estore/i...oducts_id=1278
or this from EffluxRC:
http://www.effluxrc.com/Assemble-and...ance-ASBAL.htm
Both can provide what is essentially the same combo-except Xtreme uses an alloy housing.

Just my .02

To anyone using the 1680/130A freewing power system combo: How do you guys think this would do in a 90mm EPO F-18? Realizing the power system is spec'd for 6s @ 1680, I'm wondering if 7S/8S will work, and if that would be beneficial, running less amps through (IE, using 7s instead of 6S)...

Would love you input- i have not used this power system yet, but LOVE my F-18 90mm, and looking for better than stock power (which should not be hard, since stock system is a 6 blade)..

thanks for your help!

I'm also debating the Freewing 1680kv inrunner for my Freewing F-18 V2. My batteries are 4000mah 60c. I might have to get larger ones for flight time, since the 1680 will eat them faster. I'm wondering if I should look into a 7 or 8s setup, with the stock outrunner 1550kv motor.
